Jerry decided to humor Jim and took the bag nearest him, the one marked "Jake 11"
As Jerry unwrapped the uniform he commented to Jim that whoever Jake is, or was, he must have been small for his age. He remembered being almost 5 feet tall by the time he was 11 and a good 110lbs.
The kid who owned this uniform had to be little over 4'2" and about 60lbs.
The label read "Age 11, XS"
"Huh, just my size, yeah" laughed Jerry as he held the ridiculously tiny shirt against his chest.
Jim just smiled and said "You'll see"
Jerry placed one of the little sneakers next to his own Size 11 feet, and slipped his foot out of his own shoe to place it next to.
Jim encouraged him to try it on and Jerry totally caught up in the moment did just that.
However, his, in comparison, giant foot could do more than fit a few toes inside.
"A perfect fit!" smirked Jerry.
"Just wait" again said Jim.
Then it started.
Almost imperceptibly at first, Jerry began to be aware that his own clothes seemed to have more room in them there had been a moment ago. He no longer seemed to fill them as he had done when he walked into the store, and they suddenly began to seem as if they had been made for a much bigger guy.
He looked down and saw wrinkles of fabric forming on his chest and his sleeves beginning to creep down over his knuckles.
For a moment he was transfixed but when he next looked up he saw that Jim, who had been a good few inches shorter than him only a few moments earlier was now looking at him eye to eye and they were exactly the same height!
"Believe me now, Stretch?" said Jim who placed a hand gently on Jerry's head and began to apply a gentle pressure as Jerry continued to slowly dwindle. The next moment he found he was first looking up at Jim just a little and then the moment after that looking directly at his chin.
Other changes were happening too.
He opened his voice to protest and in the middle of his "Hey, What Gives?" was embarrassed to hear his voice break. His stubble had gone and when he pushed back the masses of empty fabric that had been his sleeves he found that his formerly hairy and well muscled forearms now only had the lightest dusting of hair.
He looked up again and saw that Jim was not only much taller than him now (Jerry barely reached his chest) but also looked impressively big and grown up.
Now it was Jim's turn to smirk. He reached down and grasped at the empty space around Jerry's torso where there had once been well developed muscle and was now only empty fabric.
"Too bad, Stretch, but you seem to have lost a few years of development there!"
Jerry wanted to tell JIm to shut up by now when he tried to speak all that came out was a high. piping, treble.
With horror he looked over at the Little League uniform and saw that he would soon be able to fit into it.
Desperate for something else to do he tried to put his foot fully into the sneaker and watched with amazement as it slid in. It felt tight for a moment and then as his own clothes had done only a minute or so earlier it too began to loosen.
Jim let out a long laugh and helped a dazed Jerry out of the tent like clothes that were threatening to suffocate him and into the Little League Uniform.
Not only did he now fit inside it was, if anything, a little big for him, as if he was wearing the uniform of an older brother. The sneakers felt, if anything, roomy and would need to be tied more tightly to stay on.
He put on the other sneaker and ran to a mirror. It was his face, alright, the face he remembered having as child but something was off. He had never been this small as an 11 year old!
