CYOTF (Animal)

You, short term costumed performer

You feel tired and sweating, but no one knows because you're wearing a large ox-like mascot suit.

You are roleplaying Mr. Oxdorf now, one of the beloved mascots of this paradise. It has a cartoon-like appearance, with wheat and gold fur and a big round head ox-like head. The head has two maroon horns and a honey-orange bull-like muzzle that seems permanently stretched in a cheerful grin.

The afternoon sun beats down as you continue your mascot duties, clad head to toe in a steaming ox costume. Each smile and wave for the children saps what remaining energy you have. A glance at the towering bell tower tells you there is just one hour left of your shift. You are deeply convinced that you can hold on. You take a deep breath and muster your willpower, determined to finish your job with dignity and professionalism.

You've endured far more grueling training sessions as a shot put and discus throw athlete, pushing your strong body to the limits. As a sports student who freshly graduated from high school, you have a strong and supple upper body, powerful legs, and graceful balance. Though sweat soaks into every inch of the suffocating suit, the costumed performer job is not a challenge for you. You know you have the strength and stamina to overcome any obstacle. You are proud of your athletic physique and confident in your abilities.

You’ve always excelled in sports, but academics have been a challenge. You had to repeat a year, which now feels like a distant embarrassment. However, sports have provided an escape and helped secure the scholarship that’s keeping you afloat.

Although you have won several championships, you still have some distance to top-notch. As a result, you only get the second-tier scholarships. You still have to apply for short-term jobs to cover the remaining expenses in order not to burden your family. So when the amusement park was hiring for costumed characters over the long break, you leaped at the chance.

"Stop thinking about this again!" You scold yourself, square your shoulders beneath the heavy headpiece and trudge on. As you turn to shake your head in exasperation, the cartoon ox mimics your movement, eliciting peals of laughter from the children watching. The sound reenergizes your tired muscles, one more hour... you can endure. Their smiling faces remind you of your own younger siblings, their joy Pushing aside your exhaustion. You couldn't let them down any more than you can disappoint this audience.

Feeling invigorated, you shuffle your large hooves along the pavement, attempting to match the lively beat of the music. You nod your horned head and swing your furry tail, pretending to be cheerful and energetic. You pose for photos with the excited kids, giving them a gentle hug or a high-five with your cushioned gloves.

As it is near the Chinese New Year, paradise designed this theme clothes for him: Classic Chinese elements like a vibrant silk robe and rounded red hat, the manager told you this is the Chinese God of Wealth. On one hand, you clutch your decorated sack of treasures - boxes filled with souvenirs to deliver as the traditional "red pockets" of the Lunar New Year. Though you feel more like Santa Claus when passing out gifts.

From the first moment you donned the fuzzy golden suit, you took to the role like a duck to water.

Being the oldest sibling meant you were always caring for your brothers and sisters, making them laugh and ensuring they felt loved, silliness and dramatics came easily. Your athletic frame and sturdy physique also proved the perfect match for Mr. Oxdorf's playful ox persona, as your ease of movement and boisterous energy seamlessly translated words into physical performance.

With passionate enthusiasm, you energetically pulled gifts from your seemingly endless sack one after another, delighting the crowd of tourists gathered before you with dramatic flourishes. Young and old alike watched with smiles as you tossed the "red pocket" into outstretched hands.

As you dig back into your sack for the next "red pocket", something sharp suddenly pricks your thick gloved finger. You yelp in surprise and grab the mysterious object out. Gripping it carefully between your furry fingers, you lifted it up to peer through the viewing slit in your costume head. A shard of wheat color crystal glinted in the sunlight, its facets sparkling brilliantly.

"How strange," you muttered to yourself. This wasn't part of the usual assortment of sweets and vouchers that should have been in the sack. Had it accidentally fallen in from somewhere?
