When construction started 7 years ago not many people in the local town thought much of the unusually named Aquatis Hotel the town council had agreed to. Only when it was revealed the project included a neighboring building containing large aquarium-like tanks and indoor and outdoor lagoon-style pools did some people start questioning what was going on within the minds of the project masterminds.
But once the construction was finished it didn’t take much time for the reasoning questions to be answered. What with the reveal that the prime reason for the waterworld-like extension was that the main focus of the Hotel was hosting merfolk convections…
…And not one simply for ultra-rich snobbish so-called ‘ladies’ to display their wealth. This convention area was to be all inclusive in ages, sexes, sexual orientations, ethic tones… heck the only reason one wouldn’t be able to visit at the peak times was if your finances were seriously in the red.
You also didn’t need to preemptive own tails to wear. Many sectors within the waterworld contained stores-like stalls and rooms to help with not just a tail but accessories and if wanted makeup. And this wasn’t convention-time exclusive for a good part of the business with several stores being open all-year rounds…
…as was the actual areas though outside of convection times this was usually only on request which was honestly the most expensive requests unless you had the right contacts. Even then The Aquatis Board of Shareholders and Directors were stern on the entire convention Waterworld Building was only to all guests and registered visitors for the event during official convention time. As in all attempts no matter how much money, let alone crying or whinging would change that…
…and trust people when they say they’ve tried.
The Waterworld building itself contained a number of tanks, both housing various kinds of safe-to-human aquatic life for swimmers to play with and those fully vacant unless in use for guest to swim in without worry. Pools designed like Lagoons, several with artificial-rock Sea Stacks for users to lounge on like a number of media-types show mermaids doing, both indoors and out. There were even spots where visitors and guests could setup photo-shots with employed semi-professionals.
All in all Aquatis was both a boon to the local economy to the town if one ever read up on it the mere fact of its success could blind many to the vast number of stories that can happen, but then again unless they hit headlines what convention event or location doesn’t:
