In a small rural town in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee a UFO hovered above two restaurants. It was trying figure which one would be best to home in on as its occupants had experiments to do and wanted to target the best restaurant for its mission. Unfortunately, there were only two options in the small town. The Blue Waffle was an all night diner selling breakfast as well as hamburgers and steaks and had never closed since it opened. The town folks enjoyed eating there after high school football games, on lunch breaks, and on major holidays. It was a simple place, though kind of run down due to deferred maintenance because the place refused to shut down for even a single day. But, despite the fact it was run down, it still maintained high marks with the county board of health and so regularly got rated into the high 90's on its health inspection placard. The other restaurant, Sam N Ellie's, was more of an upscale dining place than The Blue Waffle, though clearly, "upscale dining" is a relative term as it would have never competed as upscale dining in larger cities. With that said, if one entered this establishment, they would have been greeted by a grayish brown colored vinyl tile similar as to what you would find in a run-down department store, cheap wood paneled walls from the '70's, and a deer head mounted over the door where the waiters go in and out of the kitchen. Over the cashier's station a US flag hung and below it an old Trump 2020 political sign still remained plastered to the wall. The crowd here also contained blue collar folks, but unlike The Blue Waffle, also had a few farmers mixed in. This particular establishment had specifically created parking in its gravel lot for tractors since many farmers enjoyed riding their tractors to the restaurant on a sunny day. And because of the tractor parking, this establishment would occasionally draw in tourists interested in the odd and old fashioned mode of transportation. The typical fare here was still hamburgers and steaks, though no breakfast. However, they also served up local favorites like fried catfish, chitterlings, ham, fried chicken, and hamburger steak with mushroom gravy. And so, the UFO was at a quandary over which restaurant to pick since the clientele were almost similar.
