Alex was your average highschool senior with a not-so-average girlfriend. You see his girlfriend Mallory was something of a fanatic when it came to old-school technology, and Alex wanting to impress her for their one year anniversary, so he went to the magic shop as it had just opened and he thought they might have something that would pique his girlfriend’s interests. I mean the ads did say that every trip to the shop would be “magical” and that it had “something for everyone.” So they had to have something right?
Alex perused the shelves looking for what to get but was having no luck, most of the stuff here was kinda weird, mostly just normal everyday items but with some sort of twist, or bizarre claim that he knew couldn’t be true. I mean there’s no way anybody actually believed this crap right?
After about thirty minutes, Alex finally found something. It was definitely old, as he had to wipe a layer of dust from the packaging to even see what it was, but once he did he knew it woukd be a perfect gift.
The packaging read: “The magical instant Camera! Snap a pic, change your life!”
Though Alex didn’t reallY care to read much more, all he really cared about was the fact that it was one of those old cameras that would instantly print a photo, and it wasn’t even one of those modern recreations, it was the genuine article.
Alex took the camera to the lady at the front desk, who smiled at his selection.
“Oh wow, this has been on the shelf for quite some time huh? I forgot we even had one of these. Tell ya what cutie, this one’s on the house.”
She then smiled and slipped a sharpie into the bag along with it.
“To truly enjoy this camera, you’ll need one of those.” Alex didn’t really care about what the lady had to say, he was just happy that he got his girlfriend a present he knew she’d love and that it was on the house.
When he got home he decided to take the camera out of the box and to put it in a new one and wrap it for Mallory. When he did so, he expected to see instructions or something like that, but all he saw was the camera and a note.
The note read: “Snap a photo, and write your desired change on the picture. The only limit is your imagination.”
Alex looks perplexed as he reads this.
“No way this is true… desired change? What the hell does that even mean?”
Despite his disbelief, part of Alex was curious…
