(Author’s Note: Changed Oliver to living in an apartment instead of his house.)
Oliver was disappointed to see nothing inside the changing room and gave an exasperated sigh. He had been hoping to experiment with a randomly chosen article of clothing, since it gave him more of a thrill, but with the other changing rooms occupied he didn’t have a choice. He would have to go and pick his own clothes to try on.
Oliver went to to the front of the store to get a shopping cart and made his way to the aisles of clothings. They were placed in five different categories: Men, Women, Boys, Girls, and Infant. Oliver began to browse the Men’s and Boy’s aisles and picked a few different pieces of clothings. He quickly grabbed whatever interested him without hesitation, not worried about the size or type of clothing. Shirts, Pants, Underwear. He took them all.
With the way the ring worked, Oliver knew the clothes wouldn’t make him swap bodies with anyone. The note seemed to imply that only wearing clothes owned by someone would cause him to swap lives. However, since he was a secondhand store, all the clothes had been donated. This meant they all lacked an owner, giving Oliver the opportunity to become different people without the body swapping aspect of the ring.
Although Oliver wasn’t absolutely happy with his life, he didn’t want to abandon it completely. He still cared about his family and friends too much to leave them. But maybe he could simply use the ring to improve his appearance?
Oliver decided he would have visit the mall after this. He needed to buy some new clothes and see the other powers the ring granted. Unfortunately, Oliver was interrupted by his cellphone ringing. He checked his phone to see his roommate was calling him and answered the call.
“Oliver where are you?” Edgar yelled annoyed.
“At the store. Why?”
“Dude, you forgot to give me back my textbook! And I need it for my class!” Edgar said in a worried tone. After all, if he didn’t pass this class he would have to stay an extra semester.
“Shit! Sorry, I forgot to return it before my jog. I’ll head right on over.” Oliver hung the call and looked at his cart. Edgar really needed his textbook but Oliver knew he still had a few minutes to spare. He made his way to the vacant checkout and quickly bought all the clothes he had chosen before running back to his apartment.

“Here you go, thanks for letting me borrow it.”
Edgar quickly snatched the textbook from Oliver and stuffed it in his backpack. And without another word he took off.
“What’s the big deal? His class doesn’t start for another 15 minutes,” Oliver thought as he made his way to his bedroom, all the bags of clothes he had bought lying on the floor.
Oliver felt very tempted to use the ring just then but he felt that should take a shower first. He had been running around shirtless all morning and was soaked in sweat. So after a quick shower, Oliver found himself back in his bedroom wearing only his boxers.
He locked the door and embraced his privacy. Oliver didn’t have any classes today and with his roommate gone, he had the perfect opportunity to use the ring. The ring was lying on top of his desk, he had placed it there before his shower.
Grabbing the ring off his desk, Oliver put it on and scanned the random assortment of clothing on the ground. Trying to decide what to put on. Eventually, Oliver chose to put on…
