Dmitri sensed the spell coming at him in just enough time to dodge it. He looked over and spotted an Appaloosa stallion running alongside him. There was no one else around. The stallion clearly had to be a Horse Witch. Dread built in Dmitri's stomach. Was it Gelvin, arriving early? Or perhaps even tracking poor Clover? Whether it was Gelvin or not, and whatever his intentions were, Dmitri knew he had to get to the stable right away.
Dmitri veered off course, going off the road and into the woods. He knew the area well, but hopefully the stallion didn't. To his relief, he wasn't followed. He let a small amount of magic trickle into his speed, just enough to race the last few miles or so.
Upon arriving at the stable, Dmitri quickly returned to a human form. He would need to talk to the stable master about the encounter. Yes, he had been in the form of a Witch's Pony, but Horse Witches were not supposed to be aggressive with horses. And that spell had been an aggressive one, intending to knock him out.
If there was a rogue Horse Witch about, precautions would need to be taken.
