Damon was gone, killed in another place, in another reality. His family was contracted, research done, the police alerted but of course it was all for nothing. Damon was never found, and his family's worst fears were indeed confirmed in that he was dead, even though they did not know it and still held a glimmer of hope that he might be alive and well. Damon's girlfriend Monica hoped as much. And the genie waited for her new master, as this one was dead and definitely incapable o uttering any wishes. So when the landlord let Damon's family pick into his things, she went to get her own belongings. She saw the lamp, asked if she could take it and then went back to her place to mourn the loss of her partner. She certainly would need psychological help and time to recover. As such, the genie waited patiently.
A few months later, she was cleaning up her place and noticed the lamp again. She was feeling somewhat better, though still hoping against hope to have news of Damon, deep down. She knew that she had to take the regular steps necessary to her slow recovery. She didn’t even want to imagine how his family was coping. As she rubbed the lamp absent-mindedly, thinking about several things, she gasped as smoke erupted from the item. The genie knew she had a woman as a new master so she took the shape of a genie young man, appropriately good-looking. It always helped to be of the opposite sex of the master, she thought. Well, mostly it functioned with men, but it did have certain effects with women. That much was undeniable.
"Hello, Sweet Mistress," the genie said with a great dazzling white smile.
"Oh..." said Monica in utter wonder. "Are you... Are you a genie? A real genie?"
"Indeed I am," he said with a flourish. "And aren't you lucky."
"Because I get three wishes?" she asked.
"Oh, you get much more than that," he laughed, then proceeding to enumerate the rules of his trade.
Yet Monica just thought of Damon. She asked if he knew what had happened to him. The genie told her the truth. Naturally, she was completely horrified, berating the genie for his magic. The genie just argued that he merely let the magic loose, and that wording was very important. The more details, the better. Well, in theory, because the genie WAS in control of his magic. He was simply extremely mischievous and delighted in the humiliation of humans. As for Monica, even though she was furious and terrified at the same time, she decided to use a few wishes, if only to bring Damon back. And for herself too. This was much too tempting. As such, she ended up writing a wish as detailed as possible. She then breathed deeply and said it out loud.
"As you wish," smiled the genie and snapping his fingers.
