Shannon blinked down at the earrings which sat on the ground. Out of instinct she reached up to touch her now canine ears, tracing where the earrings had been. She felt the strangeness of it, that her body had pushed away those human things, leaving her even more different than she had been. The fact the changes weren't finished made a strange hole in her stomach, followed by another strange sensation- this time in her fingers. She raised one hand...more like a paw though still very much a hand in shape, just covered in the fur, the soft pink pads that graced her palm. A little bit of pink nail polish still clung to the claws, which themselves were semi-flesh colored. The sensation was like a heat, a warmth that traveled through her fingers into the nails. She watched as the tone of them darkened and turned black, and the paint itself flaked away as if it had been heated, leaving them unblemished and sharp. The same thing happened on her toenails a moment later. Shannon realized that her body was losing those things that truly showed she had been a full human a moment ago, that the changes were making her wilder in appearance. Her tail tucked between her legs, and a soft whine emanated from her throat.
The feeling remained in her, not unpleasant, just this strange warmth, like a fire inside her. Her eyes flicked to her friendship anklet, that last tie to her former life. Somewhere inside her, something instinctual spoke, promises of freedom, of wild and wooly fun, of hunting and heartstopping power. All she had to do was hook her claw under it, sever that connection. Shannon felt this strange sensation, a balance of a precarious edge between Shannon the girl, and Shannon the wolf.
