From the files of S.P.E.A.R: a story of Santa

"Director McMillan!"

Sarah found herself speeding towards the gate to the vampire domain. It had been almost a week since Anna and Greg had ventured there in order to find a shell stone. During their hiatus, they had lost contact with the duo, forcing Sarah to consider both agents were lost. Before one of her agents had burst through her door, she had been formulating a rescue operation to find the missing agents, and recover their bodies.

Those plans would now be scrapped, Sarah watching as both Anna and Greg stumbled through the portal. Ragged, dirty, and tired, the pair offered Sarah a weak smile. "Hey boss," Greg smirked. "We didn't miss the office Christmas party did we?" Sarah rolled her eyes, reaching over to squeeze the young agent in a bear hug.

Two hours later, Sarah found herself in her office, ideally turning the shell stone over in her hands. It amazed her that such a small thing could contain so much power. Then again, Sarah was beginning to believe quite a few things that seemed impossible only a few years ago.

"Got a minute?'

Sarah looked up, a small smile on her face as she gazed at Jacob Moreland. It amazed the Director how much she had come to rely on Jacob over the last few months. Not only did he have a wealth of information, he was proving to be a good friend. "Always," she said, placing the shell stone down. "Good timing was hoping we could talk."

"Was just debriefing Rosario and Wesker," Jacob replied. "They had a hell of story. Lady Roseblood put them through the wringer. Bloodless Ghouls, zombies, Yeti, hell there were enough undead to fill a hunters diary."

"I heard," Sarah replied. "And I also heard that they technically never received the shell stone from Lady Roseblood." Sarah now reached into her pocket, sliding the note Rosario and Wesker had given to her. "What do you make of this?" Jacob now picked up the note, clumsily opening it with his one hand as he began to read. Furrowing his brow, he sighed before sliding it back. "Yeah this is legit."

"How though," Sarah exclaimed. "I mean seriously. Are you telling me that Santa, THE SANTA, actually exists?"

"Yeah he's real," Jacob said softly. "Met him a couple of years back." Sarah's jaw dropped, still not believing any of this as Jacob now told his tale.

Two Christmas ago, Jacob's wife Nina was invited to an office party hosted by Gloria's stepmother Lisa Turner. During the party Lisa's toddler daughter Lynne,(who just so happened to be a wizard,) snuck in. Apparently thr toddler thought the party would be similar to a birthday party and wanted to come. When she found out it was only for adults, she did something about it. "Wait she turned everyone into children," Sarah exclaimed.

"Yep," Jacob replied. "Started ageing everyone down to her age. Only problem is the kid couldn't turn it off. If I hadn't shown up with Merlin and the others we would of had close to 80 people just wink out of existence."

"And I thought Lilith making me 12 was bad," Sarah shuddered, her thoughts now lingering on the chaos that ensued. An entire office building going from adults to small children. Sarah wondered how she would have dealt with thw situationof she was there. "So what happened when you arrived?"

"By the time we showed up everyone was between 5 and 6 years old," Jacob stated. "No one remembered being an adult but they somehow knew who I was. The magic the kid employed had some weird reality alteration to it. Worse, everyone was still growing younger."

"So how did you stop it?"

"Merlin and his daughter were able to stop the regression," Jacob stated. "Problem was though that the kids spell was so complex that to avoid any side effects, she would have to end the spell herself. Good luck though trying to get a 3 year old to do anything she don't want to do."

"So how did you get her to do it," Sarah asked. Jacob smirked, directing her attention to the letter. "We didn't," he said. "He did." Sarah now listened as Jacob explained Merlin's surprise. A surprise even the experienced hunter wasn't aware of. Apparently Santa was real, to small children at least. The mantle was passed down from person to person, someone always holding the mantle of Santa Claus.

With Santa Claus present with Merlins invitation, he began to do what he does best. After talking with Lynne, he convinced the girl to reverse the spell, after every child had a chance to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas. "The guy sat there patient as a Saint as every kid in that building told them their childish wants for Christmas," Jacob said. "Honestly it was kinda impressive. Personally though I was just happy Nina was safe."

Sarah nodded, gently holding the note in her hand. It seemed unfathomable that Santa existed, yet an eyewitness story plus this note said otherwise. "So any chance if meeting the latest office holder," she smirked.

"Not unless you're back in kindergarten Sarah," Jacob chuckled. The pair now laughed softly, wishing eachother a Merry Christmas as they toasted the successful mission of Anna and Greg.
