A white full-size SUV drove up the driveway at 533 Essex Rd, right past the "Just Sold" sign and the moving van out front. The van had been there since the morning with a constant stream of movers unloading furniture from the vehicle and intro the old house. The doors to the SUV opened and Mr and Mrs DeVille stepped out. The couple had only a moment of peace to gaze at their house before the sliding door on their car opened up and their k1ds piled out.
"I get first dibs on bedroom!" their 14-year-old daughter Christine yelled and made a dash for the front door. Her brother grabbed the collar of her shirt before she could get very far.
"Hold on squirt, if anyone's getting first dibs its me." He was a year older than his sister and liked to remind her of his seniority.
The two 9-year-old twins Lilian and Luke immediately began to whine at the injustice, and their father quickly stepped in to defuse the situation.
Charles Deville broke up the squabbling siblings. "Hey, hey, hey! We told you rooms have already been decided, OK? So no dibs. The house is big enough for everyone."
He opened the door and the k1ds ran inside, They charged upstairs en mass to find their new bedrooms. Emily DeVille gave her husband a satisfied hug.
"Its all ours now huh?"
"Yeah, the agent wanted to sell it real bad. It's a buyer's market! You can't do better than what we payed for this place, even if I had to go through some crazy stories about what the people who used to live here were into."
"Shhh," hushed his wife, "none of that around the k1ds. This is our house now, not theirs. Its a new start for us and this house."
Upstairs the k1ds were exploring their new rooms. They all had much more space than at the old house. The twins had smaller rooms of course, but at least now they didn't have to share.
Christina spread out her arms and spun around in her bedroom. She was so happy to have so much space to herself. Round and round she spun. She could have all her friends over at once, well...maybe just the boys. She imagined them watching her as she spun around in her new room...rolling her hips...running her hands through her hair...
"Christie, whatcha doin'?" asked Luke from the doorway.
Christina stopped suddenly. She shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Nothing Luke just stretching." The ch1ld walked down the hall, indifferent to his sister's behavior. Christina sat down on her bed, puzzled, and wondered what had suddenly come over her.
Meanwhile...
