"So, how did adoption go?", asked Alex's best friend, Terrie, who was waiting outside the shelter.
"It went okay, if not a little bit strange."
"What happened?"
"I don't know if I should really tell you... I think it is too strange to be believable."
"Oh... Well, alright then. I am not forcing you to answer me. At least you have something to help you with your anxiety.", responded Terrie.
Of course, adopting a cat was Terrie's idea. She was Alex's best friend since kindergarten, and knew that her friend had serious problems with anxiety. She was also very interested in psychology, as well as a big animal lover, so the adoption was, of course, her idea.
As for Alex, she was not really the social type. Terrie has been her only actual friend so far. Others either didn't think much about her, or interacted with her only when they needed help around homework and similar things. Even though Alex always got straight As (sometimes getting a B), she always felt anxious. Others didn't really know where she got it, though it wasn't from past trauma.
"Huh... Thanks for being there for me tho, I really appreciate it.", responded anxious girl, parting the ways with her BFF.

Alex finally arrived home and unlocked door of her house. Her parents weren't here because mom was working as a doctor, and her father had to do something quick in the town. When Alex entered, she opened the door of transporter and looked at the nametag on the collar. It was black, shaped like a fish, and on it, there was name of the cat written in the white letters: 'Phantom'.
"Huh, neat name you have there. And quite fitting.", thought anxious, but smart girl.
"I'll let you adjust to your new home, just don't break anything, okay?", Alex said to the cat, which seemed like it understood her. The cat walked out of its transporter, carefully looking around. Since it was Saturday, Alex had time to finish her homework, so she sat down and got on to do it.
Meanwhile, Phantom was walking around the living room. The home was modest, yet cozy, and the black cat could feel the warmth in the room. But of course, it was a little boring for him. He was usually very calm, as well as kind, but that didn't stop him from being mischievous every once in a while. The red-eyed black cat also secretly had magical powers, which made committing mischief without destroying things easier. He also heard from conversation that his new owner was anxious, so he had to be careful with his prank.
(What did the cat decide to do with his powers?)
