So Andrew then decided to put on the ring. Immediately he felt a wave of warmth spread from his finger to the rest of his body. The warmth then became a burning sensation and he shouted out, desperately trying to remove the blasted ring. Unfortunately, it didn't come off. In fact., it did not budge. As if it was stuck for good. Then Andrew felt himself get dizzy and everything went black.
When the young man woke up, he was on a soft ground. He saw quickly that it was soft grass. He could smell salt and the sea and indeed a slope led to a beautiful beach. Everything basked in sunlight and warm air. Rocky hills made the resat of what might. be an island. It looked Mediterranean in its landscape. He groaned. What had happened? Then he remembered and also noticed his hands. Well, paws. With scales and sharp claws. Lots of scales. He looked at himself. He had a long tail. A long neck with which his head could see wings sprouting from his shoulder blades. He saw that he possessed a long snout too. He... He was a dragon! But... But he saw that ring was gone too! Just then, the voice of the ring boomed out, seemingly from nowhere.
"So? How do you enjoy being a dragon?" it said.
"But... Where am I? Are you in my head?" said a frightened Andrew.
"Nonsense. Those were all lies I fed you. You are in the Fay Realm, where creatures of legend exist."
"But... Why am I a dragon then?"
"Because in some areas of this world dragon populations are low. You can help get the birthrate go up and lay many eggs. Because yes, you are female now."
"FEMALE???" yelled Andrew in horror.
He stared down at his own crotch and sure enough, there was no crotch or pen is greeting his eyes. He saw only a slit and its use needed no explanation.
"I found it funny to make you a girl," laughed the voice "But look at it that way. For a dragon, you really are attractive. And you won't have to fight for females. You're the prize! Or worry about other male concerns, that is. Just look pretty, let males tend to you and spoil you, lay eggs and be an attentive mother. Easy, right?"
"Change me back!" demanded Andrew, decidedly unconvinced.
"Out of the question. My wizard creator did not give me that sort of power. You're stuck as it is. I'll soon return in the human world to convince another fool to put on the ring and become a dragon as well. Bye!"
Andre cursed and shouted to the voice to do something as he could absolutely not stay like this but the air remained silent. The voice of the ring had gone for good and Andrew was left to start his new life.
