The two pontoon boats were strapped together in such a way to allow anyone to walk back and forth between the two with safety and ease. That was good considering that there were 12 people sharing these two boats. This was their late spring break and worse it was their last spring break because a quarter of them would graduate university in the fall before moving on with their true adult life.
Sitting on the back wooden deck thing which sat just above the surface with her feet in the water was a young women in her early twenties looking out at the distant shore line. Her dark red one piece showed a rather nice body, thin with smallish but noticeable for her size breasts. Her dark reddish hair going well with the look.
“Rose come on get in the water all the way.” Yelled her stepsister Barbara as she swam a little bit off from the boat.
“I am good for the moment.” Yelled Rose back as Barb nodded before pulling down her mask and began to keep snorkeling.
“Are you sure?” yelled a young man beside Barb, his blonde hair was almost as bright as Barb’s but not nearly as long.
“I am good Mike.” Confirmed Rose as Mike shrugged before doing the same as Barbara and kept snorkeling.
If Rose hadn’t known Barbara as well as she did, she would have guessed that she and Mike were an item but that was far from the truth, as a dark-haired beauty sat down beside her on the deck. Her short black hair in a bob cut as she slipped into the water.
“You’re welcome to join us you know.” offered Lindsay in a reassuring tone.
“Enjoy yourself, Lindsay.” Said Rose to her future sister-in-law as Barbara’s long-term girlfriend just turned finance nodded her head and moved off.
“Can I offer you a drink?” came another voice behind Rose as she tired to hold back a blush as her friend and secret crush sat down beside her.
“No thanks, Oscar.” said Rose as she tried not to imagine some of the things she wanted to do to this young man, part of her wanted to rip off those swim trunks. He wasn’t overly fit like another one of their friends, but he was far from fat. He was shorter than any guy here but was the perfect height for her and most of all he was kind.
“So how tense is things back there?” inquired Rose looking over her shoulder where her best friend since 7th grade was sunbathing while attempting not to glare at her former boyfriend and his new girlfriend getting ready to get into the water as well. They had both agreed to break up and had remained friends for a while but Mary joining their friend group seamed to awaken something within Wendy.
“Tense.” confirmed Oscar “I know they both agreed to break up but I don’t think Wendy is over him.”
“Not a chance.” confirmed Rose as she looked at Wendy who was the only person shorter then she was, was all but glaring at her former boyfriend Tom and his new girlfriend Mary who were currently putting sunscreen on each other.
There are other friends where on the other end of the platoons. She was able to catch their wilder friend, Natalie doing a cannon ball of the edge of the boat while her boyfriend Ryan stood calmly by watch her go all the while talking to Greg who was the only one wearing a life vest. It had taken a lot of work to get Greg out on the boat, he was slightly afraid of the water. The only person she couldn’t see was their other friend Penny who must be swimming on the other side of the boat but then she heard her voice coming from that end, which confirmed that she was ok.
“This is a great vacation.” said Rose
“I agree.” confirmed Oscar as suddenly the sound of screams came from some boats to their right.
“What is going on?” inquired Rose as everyone stopped and looked toward the source of the screaming.
“Someone must have seen a shark.” offered Oscar as Rose turned toward her friends/family in the water and was about to yell for them to get out of the water to avoid a shark.
It wasn’t sharks in the water; it was something else.
