“This is Susan with Channel 7 News.” said a woman in smart business wear as she stood on a beach surrounded by people. From first glance it looked like a typical but packed beach on any summer day however if one looked closer one could see many of the people were wearing Mermaid and Merman customs. Some looked far more realist than others, some had gone all out with handmade scales while others were cheap Halloween versions not meant to get wet. “Tomorrow marks the grand opening of the New Atlantis hotel here on this scenic waterfront and to mark the occasion the owners have decided to breath the World Record for number of mermaid and merman performers at once.”
“Tomorrow morning over 300 professional mermaids and merman will open the hotel with an underwater performance using some the natural coral reefs which will be broadcasted and lived streamed.” Stated the reporter “Afterwards over 5000 people are invited to join the performers in the water to make sure the record is never surpassed. If you want to join, the event is open to the public, just register and if you don’t have a tail one can be either bought or rented from some of the artists who have come out to make this a record for the books. This is Susan with Channel 7 News, back to you in the studio.”
With that the camera man cut the feed.
“Well, we will have to be here tomorrow at sunrise right?” inquired the man
“Yah…” said Susan “The studio, even wants me to get in a tail and swim around for the camera.”
“Just an excuse to put a beautiful woman in a bikini on live TV just like all this.” laughed the man as Susan laughed as well. Both of them knew the B roll they had played with the voice over was mostly showing the best costumes and the most beautiful mermaids with a handful of merman as well to avoid being accused of the very thing they were doing.
“Ah…what would your boyfriend think if I got you into a tail?” inquired Susan
“Probably wanting to do something I can’t say without getting HR involved.” Laughed the camera man
Unknown to them resting just below them on the pier, her head just above the water line was the actual Goddess Queen of the Mermaids, Aquaris.
“Well, this is just perfect.” stated Aquaris as she considered her options.
