It was Halloween. Houses were adorned with all sorts of decorations, from classic Jack-O-Lanterns, to fake skeletons and bedsheet ghosts hanging from the string. Children were running around in costumes, going from door to door and asking "Trick or treat?", and teens were partying in their homes.
Among the younger children, there was one boy dressed as a dinosaur, named Nathan, who was pulling his older brother by the arm, whose name was Peter.
"Come on Peter, just this house, and we will get back!"
"Every time you say that, you want to visit yet another house after."
"I swear, this one is going to be the last one!"
"Okay, just this house, and after that, we go home, alright?"
"Alright."
The boys arrived to the house which looked most convincing of them all. It was pretty old by the looks of it: broken windows, worn off paint, as well as creaky floorboards made it look like some kind of haunted house, uninhabited by anyone. But surprisingly, an old lady with a friendly looking face came out of it.
"Trick or treat?"
"Oh, boy, we got a little dino here! And you are going as yourself, I see?", the old lady chuckled.
"My younger brother brought me here, even though I wanted to go to a party..."
"Ah, come on, can't you enjoy the spirit of trick or treating? Age shouldn't be much of a problem for you. Anyways, have some delicious treats I made by myself."
The old lady then threw in some sweets in Nathan's bag, as the kid dressed as a dinosaur watched in glee.
"However, these treats are more than they seem. They might be even, you know... magical."
Peter just chuckled at the thought of candy being magical. Sure, that lady was just crazy, right?
"Anyways, I gotta go back now. Hope we see each other next time!"
The lady entered back into her home abd closed the creaky door after her. Two boys then went back to the home, as Nathan promised.
"I wonder how those sweets that the old lady gave us taste... Maybe magic does exist after all?"
"Oh Nathan, sorry to break it to you, but there is no such thing as-"
"Do you want some Peter?", Nathan asked his older brother before he could finish the sentence. But those sweets were really tempting...
