At 3 am on a Sunday morning, my attempts to fall asleep have been futile for the past half hour. Beside me lies my best friend, Alex, peacefully immersed in slumber after a night of drinking with mates. We find ourselves in the familiar post-party scenario at my place, both clad only in our underwear due to the warmth of an Australian summer night.
Restlessly, I shift to my back, fixating on the ceiling, wide awake. Suddenly, a buzzing noise disrupts the silence, accompanied by a glaring light emanating from Alex's phone on the nearby nightstand. As I reach for it, attempting to silence the screen, my eyes gradually adjust, revealing a notification: "Size app - new size adventures await."
Intrigued, though not typically prone to snooping, I decide to explore. Opening the app reveals Alex's current height (175cm), options to modify size or create a new user, and access to a camera/gallery feature. Curiosity piqued, I click on the gallery, uncertain of what to expect. It unveils a video with Alex's phone placed on the ground, capturing him walking in front of it, still in his footy gear from training. Sweat marks from his bare feet trace his path. An overlay displays a timer and Alex's height. As the timer reaches zero, he mysteriously shrinks into his clothing, vanishing within. The height reading concludes at 10cm, and the video halts.
"Alex's editing skills have certainly improved," I ponder, returning to the app's menu, contemplating my next move.
