Miranda walked with excitement but also some trepidation as she walked to the wing she'd chosen. It was a recent addition, so new it hadn't appeared on the brochure for the resort; she and her son had only learned about it when they checked in.
It was the Clown Wing.
Basically, what the wing did was turn the guests who picked it into clowns. Literally. The transformed guests' skin would change to a milky white, or a certain shade of orange or pink, and marking similar to a clown's makeup would appear on their faces. The hair would change into a variety of different colors and styles, sometimes the guest would become a little taller or shorter, and most would show some weight gain, from about fifty to as much as two hundred extra pounds. Two features all the newly transformed clowns had were their feet grew to enormous sizes and their noses inflated into red balls that honked when squeezed.
The change affected more than the guests' appearance; they would be filled with a compulsion to behave like the clowns they resembled. Their voices would become squeaky or obtain a goofy lilt, they'd punctuate their words with guffaws and giggles, and by honking their noses. During their stay, the new clowns would also pull various jokes both practical and impractical on the guests and staff, making the whole trip more memorable.
Miranda had chosen this wing because he felt it would cheer him up the most. William had proposed to her on a date at a circus, son some of their happiest memories sinceincluded going to the circus with him and their son and laughing at the clowns.
She brushed a hand through her hair as she found the transforming room. One thing she learned, was nearly half the males, even young boys like himself went at least partially bald when they transformed, and it was especially likely if baldness ran in their families. It sometimes happened with women too but very rarely, so Miranda wasn't worried about that. She did have trepiditaions about gaining weight; she was a woman her worked hard to maintain her figure even in middle age. She was assured if that did happen, however, that all the weight would be lost and she would have her normal figure when her vacation ended.
Miranda took a deep breath, opened the door, and stepped inside...
