Anya tossed her head. There was a strange look in her eye.
“This is risky,” Anya said slowly. “But I truly do feel that we would be safest if we stay here until one of my brothers finds us.” Sassy stared at her.
“But- but we could be so easily captured by bandits or- or worse, by rebels!” Sassy neighed.
“We are smarter than regular horses,” Anya reminded her. “We can outsmart those who would try to capture us. Not to mention, I have become a magical breed. My magic will start increasing again, and I can use it to protect us if we need it.”
“If that is what you truly think is best,” Sassy mumbled, “I will follow your lead.” Anya nuzzled her.
“Trust me, Sassy.”
“I do.”
“Then let us find shelter to stay in. We cannot remain out in the open during the night,” Anya said. Sassy nodded. The mares wandered through the woods, searching out landmarks and resources that could keep them safe and healthy. Finally, they found a cave that suited their needs. They dragged their belongings into the cave for safekeeping, then resumed grazing near the road, keeping an ear out for any approaching humans.
