Rebecca shuddered as the tingle grew stronger. To the Christian girl's horror, her skin and that of her friends began to turn a brilliant shade of crimson. "NO!" she screamed. "This can't be happening!"
"But it is," Naamah smiled. "You are the daughter of Eisheth, Duchess of Cocytus. This is your destiny."
Rebecca shrieked as she felt two bony protrusions burst through the flesh of her forehead, the beginnings of her horns. "No, I can't do this!"
"Why the fuck not?" Riley laughed. "We'll be goddamned royalty!"
"That's exactly it!" Rebecca snapped as her horns elongated. "We'll be God-damned royalty! Why the heck would we want to be the highest of the lowest?"
Alyssa shrugged. "Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven and all that. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me if this isn't all a dream."
"The lies of the Enemy always do right before he ensnares you," Rebecca protested. "Look, I won't tell you want to think or do. You have free will and I respect that. But I refuse to walk down this path myself!"
"Do you have a choice?" Delilah asked, watching in amazement as she watched her fingernails slowly sharpen into wicked talons. "We've already started changing into our demon forms."
"Anything's possible with the Lord," Rebecca insisted. She then suddenly sank to her knees. "Oh Jesus Christ, deliver me from the Valley of the Shadow of Death! Though I be one of the Nephilim, purge me of the demonic taint that befouls my blood and raise me up from this accursed abyss!"
Naamah tried not to burst out cackling. "Nice try, but..."
The succubus choked on her words as an unexpected change came over Rebecca. Her new horns began to recede back into her skull until they had vanished completely. Her skin lost its red hue, but it didn't return to its original peach color. Instead, it transformed into the color of radiant gold. At the same time, Rebecca's ears grew long and elf-like, and her eyes became two glowing pools of sapphire light.
"What's going on, Rebecca?" Emily asked. "What happened to your change?"
"I don't know," Rebecca said, "but at least I'm not becoming a demon anymore."
Rebecca's facial features seemed to subtly re-sculpt themselves, giving her visage a more lovely, ethereal, and even majestic countenance. Her new face radiated sweetness and compassion, and yet it had an intimidating quality that would make any evildoer cower before her. Her hair grew longer and shinier, and its blondeness shifted from the shade of pale straw to a lustrous metallic gold. Rebecca gritted her teeth as two lumps swelled up on her shoulder blades. She shrieked as the lumps burst, revealing a majestic pair of massive azure feathered wings. To cap off the metamorphosis, a halo of golden light materialized around Rebecca's head. Rebecca had not become a succubus. She was an angel!
"How did you do that?!" Naamah growled angrily.
Rebecca shrugged. "Faith. If it's strong, it can move mountains."
The coal-black sky suddenly ripped open, revealing a brilliant celestial light as a host of angels with wings every color of the rainbow spilled out. One flew down to Rebecca and held out her hand. She was a gorgeous woman with auburn hair and green wings. "Come, Rebecca. Come with me to Heaven where you truly belong."
Rebecca took the angel's hand and flew up into the angelic host with her. Just before leaving through the heavenly portal, Rebecca turned to face Delilah, Alyssa, Emily, and Riley. "Bye, guys. I don't want to leave you, but I just don't belong down here. Maybe... maybe we'll all meet again someday." With that, Rebecca and the other angels left for Heaven.
As the portal closed, Delilah stared blankly at where it had once been, "I can't believe Rebecca's gone, just like that!"
"Yeah, and she's an angel now!" Emily gasped.
"Like, holy shit!" Riley marveled.
"Emphasis on 'holy,' Riley," Alyssa nodded, fondling her budding horns as she tried to come to terms with what had happened.
Naamah scoffed. "Never mind that traitor. You should focus on your own glorious birthrights. That foolish girl threw hers away, but you shall be Hell's aristocracy." Her smiled returned. "Believe me, you'll LOVE it!"
