Tori sleepily tried to open her eyes. What had happened? She didn't remember falling asleep; last thing she remembered was being at the library and...
[Once upon a time, our protagonist picked up a book at the library. What she did not realize was that this was a very special book. As she checked it out, she was sucked into the story itself. When she woke up, she was a mere baby in a completely different world. Furthermore, she had changed as well. No longer was she a mere human. She was now a--]
What was that, an audiobook? Tori thought to herself groggily. As Tori's head cleared, the voice seemed to fade out, but something about what was being said seemed oddly familiar. That's right, the library. And the book. And the...fall?
Tori's eyes shot open wide in shock, then squinted as they felt sensitive to the light and a bit out of focus. Where was she, did she faint? Why did her body feel so limp, and strange?
"Oh look, sweetie, she's wagging her tail!" a strong, deep voice said happily.
Was someone walking a dog nearby? Tori wondered if she could ask them for help, so again forced her eyes to open. There was something strange about her vision, it was like her nose was all swollen and huge, and dark-colored. Did she break it in the fall? She tried to reach up with her hand, but saw something hairy enter her vision. No, not hairy...furry. A paw??
No, no no, this can't be real, Tori tried to deny it, closing her eyes and refusing to believe her eyes. She was human, dammit. She wasn't going to accept anything else. As she clenched her eyes shut and concentrated, she felt something in her body shift, little by little.
"Goodness, honey, she managed to take human form already! She must be a prodigy!" a higher, less rough voice gasped.
"Of course she's a prodigy, she's our cub!" the deep voice chortled gleefully in response.
Cub? Tori opened her eyes in surprise to see two large figures bending over her, with eyes that did not seem quite human. One figure reached out for her and lifted her into his arms. Wait, why was she so small?
"She'll make a fine werewolf and a proper successor to the ducal house!" the figure that lifted her said in his deep voice. "Your daddy will see to it!"
D--daddy??!
