Aurora watched the Horse Witch bond with her foal. Her foal! How could this have happened? Mikhail said the separation was supposed to prevent her from feeling distress or anxiety at being parted from her offspring, but it clearly hadn’t worked. Perhaps it had something to do with Aurora not being a born horse? Aurora fumed. She moved to go to Theia and her filly, but was stopped by the team of stablehands.
“Shh, Aurora,” one of the stablehands said calmly. Aurora neighed furiously. The stablehand placed a halter and lead on her. Another stablehand placed his hands on her side and mumbled under his breath. Aurora felt her body healing from the pregnancy and birth she had just been subjected to. Then, even after she felt perky and energetic, the spell continued. A strange heat filled her body.
Dread came over Aurora. She may have been under charms and spells to keep her mind numb and her behavior perfect, but she had never lost herself. She was still Anya, even stuck in the form of the horse known as Aurora. As such, she knew what was going to come for her. She was to be bred. Theia had explicitly said over and over that all Aurora would be good for was as a broodmare. Dmitri himself had suggested it. This heat, this warmth, it could only be her body being magically placed in a perfect mode for breeding.
Soon after the warmth, Aurora became aware of an alluring scent. She moved her head. The scent was coming from the stable in which the studs were kept. It was filling her with desire, need. She stomped her hooves impatiently. The stallions of the stud stable were the best thing she’d ever smelled! She swished her tail. Oh, how much she wanted to run to that stable right now!
Distracted by the various breeding spells being placed upon her, Aurora didn’t notice Theia leaving with her filly. In fact, her newborn offspring had moved to the bottom of her list of priorities. She hadn’t forgotten the golden filly. But something was more important to her right now. And that something was being bred by one of the fine stallions her family kept. Of course, how quickly she could be bred depended upon whether Mikhail had decided upon a stud to match her with.
