"Is this legal?" You lift a pair of red sneakers out of the suitcase. They have flat soles, are pointed at the toes, have a white stripe in the center over the arch of the foot, and include a pair of white socks. It's a very familiar pair of shoes.
"They're legally distinct from THAT, bunny. Look at the bottoms, completely different." The doctor is right- both sneakers have soles with a print of cat's paws on them. You slide into the socks and shoes with zero effort.
"These gloves, too?" With no confirmation needed, you put on the white formal gloves which come with the costume. Flexing your fingers, you're briefly mesmerized by how comfortably they fit. "And that's it, right?"
"That's it," confirms Dr. Vargas. You quietly thank yourself for combing your fur neatly over your crotch before you were scanned into the digital world. You can't exactly save the world with your schlong hanging out.
Snapping to attention, you notice the waiting room lights dim and the finer textures begin to pop out. "I hope you're ready to go fast!" says the doctor. You can't see him wave goodbye as you drop through a sudden trapdoor, but you can certainly imagine it.
...And you ARE ready! The moment your sneakers hit the side of the skyscraper you're falling next to, your legs start spinning at speeds you didn't know you were capable of! Running down the curved slope at the bottom of the building- of course there's a ramp there, what if a super-speedster was running there?- you crash through a formation of combat robots and collect dozens of rubies from their exploding frames! The sun is bright and cheery, the clouds are sparse and wispy, and brother you are FAST. Today's a good day to defeat-
Dr. Lemuria, of course. You can see her smug lemur face plastered all over the billboards as you merge onto the highway. She's conquering the city and you naturally don't like that. After batting a few (thankfully unoccupied) parked cars out of the way, you decide you're a bit too exposed on the overpass and take a dive through the crumbling hole in the asphalt. Not even noticing as you punch through a hovering combat drone, you dive into a concrete pipe...
And instead of getting stuck or even slowing down, you find yourself automatically curling into a ball and rapidly rolling through the tube! You get a moment to look behind your shoulder as you pop out the other side- that pipe was smaller than your head! Did you... shapeshift or something? Rapid splashing sounds direct your attention to your shoes as you effortlessly run on the surface of a pond. Holy macaroni, you could go ANYWHERE with these powers! But where do you need to go to stop Dr. Lemuria?
