Lilith groaned as they trudged through the sewers, Miranda held onto her friend as Ezekiel led the way and the others followed. They eventually made it to a lower pipe where the water came up to knee height. Lilith hesitated to enter after Ezekiel and Aloe’la,
“What’s wrong? Don’t like to sully your pretty dress?” Nat asked.
“Funny.” Lilith grumbled as she went in after the adults.
The lower pipes were darker, even with the fairies’ magic lighting the way. The silence was broken when Miranda let out a loud eeek.
“We have to be quiet remember?!” Nat yelled.
“We do, so keep it down both of you.” The black haired fae chastised.
Lilith looked down and noticed the water was a dark red and much thicker than the sewer pipes they entered from. She looked to Aloe’la and her expression went grim,
“These pipes lead from the kitchens. This is the… waste of the humans they harvest from.” She explained.
Miranda covered her mouth to stop from vomiting and clutched her goth friend tighter,
“I-I-I think I’m gonna p-pass ou—“ she choked but was stopped by Lilith.
“—no, I’m not carrying you the rest of the way.” The black haired teen replied.
“Don’t worry Miranda, it’s not much further.” The fairy reassured.
“Keep moving, we have no time to waste.” The hollow, vampiric Kane said.
Lilith went cold and she gripped her friend back. She had never heard her father speak before, even though he was a soulless thing, she still couldn’t help the way his voice made her insides churn. Aloe’la noticed this and urged them to move on.
Some time later the fairy signaled the group to stop and they all heard faint footsteps coming from above.
“If we can hear others then our exit is close. Remember, our objective here is to extract the Tepes children, we cannot afford to get into a fight with the vampire forces.” The short haired woman said.
“How are we going to get a bunch of kids out of this place?” Lilith asked.
“Once we find the Tepes children we’ll escape to the fairy kingdom, I’ll open the entrance and guide us through.” Aloe’la explained.
The team exited into the kitchen through a grate on the floor and thankfully nobody was in the kitchens. The fairy checked the doorway and locked the latch on the door before turning to the others,
“Okay, Ezekiel, Miranda and I will search the upper floors, there will be more guards but we can handle them. You two will search the lower levels. We’ll meet up here once the Tepes children are secured.” The fairy explained.
