Luca Rivera would let out a sigh as he set down his controller, powering down his gaming console as he sat alone in his bedroom. Playing the games that he usually did just didn't seem to be as much fun as they usually were for him, as much as he didn't want to admit it.
Still, he couldn't seem to find a better way to spend the last bits of time he'd have before going off to college. Nearing the end of his senior year of high school, Luca had done well enough to get himself a scholarship, so it wasn't like he'd have to work especially hard for the remaining days of school anyway.
"Man..." Luca would let out another sigh, flopping down onto his bed. Today was the first day of May, marking the beginning of the period when spring would end and summer would begin. It was almost depressing to think that after summer was done, he'd be off to dorm at some college, leaving his family behind.
Speaking of which...
Luca glanced toward the door of his bedroom, already hearing the familiar footsteps of one of his family members. When he was 7, Luca had been adopted by a pretty religious couple, becoming their son. Veronica and James Gray were good people, and although Luca didn't adhere to their religion as much as they had wanted him to, he still cared for them as his mom and dad. After all, the Grays cared more for him then his biological parents ever did.
They had adopted another child when Luca had turned 13, too, a 12 year old spunky little girl by the name of Dawn. Though they were only siblings in name, Luca cared for her as if she was his own blood-related sister, as mischievous and annoying as she could be at times. Coincidentally, it was Dawn's footsteps Luca would hear approaching his room, his eyes turning toward the door as she'd open it up.
"Hey Luca, some package came with your name on it!" Dawn was 16 now, well into her years of high school. Luca often wondered if she'd ever get around to dating someone, a thought that didn't sit well with him. She was pretty enough, with blue eyes and dyed blue hair to match, although Luca knew she could get self-conscious about the size of her breasts.
"A... package?" Luca would let out, sitting up on his bed as he'd look over at Dawn. His sister would grin, shaking it experimentally before tossing the package at him.
"H-Hey, be careful with that!" He'd let out, moving and just barely catching it within his hands. Luca would turn it over in his hand, a decently sized brown box with a label on it. "To Luca Rivera... from TransDem Labs?" He'd read the label out loud, looking up to see that Dawn was already on her way out the door.
"Well, you have fun with that!" She'd walk out the door, waving goodbye to her brother teasingly.
Left alone with the package, Luca would open it up, finding a couple of devices inside. One seemed to be a sort of plugin device that would fit in with his computer, another was a sort of chip that seemed like it could be put on his smartphone, and the other was some kind of remote.
Within the next hour or so, Luca would install the chip on his smartphone and insert the plugin into his laptop, learning that what he'd received was some sort of transformation software called the Chronivac 4.0. It was hard to wrap his head around, to be honest, but... wasn't this the sort of thing that could shake off his boredom?
A smile starting to appear on his face, he'd start up the software, a list of nearby targets appearing for him. Apparently the Chronivac had an effective range of about 20 feet. Experimentally selecting himself, Luca would watch as a number of categories would appear with his name.

A number of other stats would appear as well, but Luca was pretty much convinced that this "Chronivac" thing had a good chance of being the real deal.
