The grand doors were blasted open, the group entered prepared for a fight but instead they found the cyborgs all dead.
“I still plan on living here you know!” Wyatt yelled.
Vlad ignored him and continued forward, the others examined the dead abominations except for Hanako who lingered at the entrance.
“Something isn’t right.” Vlad said.
Duke ran ahead and motioned for the others,
“Come on! Let’s get the kids and get out of here!” He said.
Wyatt and the others followed and they found the Tepes children inside the main bedroom. None of them were injured and Wyatt ran to embrace them along with Duke and Sasha. Vlad lingered near the bed where he found a note laid on the bed, he read it and his eyes lingered on the page long after he had read it.
“Who’s that from? What’s it say?” Saha asked.
“…it’s from Vanessa—Lisa.” Vlad said softly.
Duke and Wyatt both read the letter,
“These children, this family, every time I look at them I feel sorrow and regret. I feel something I never thought possible again, I cannot ignore these feelings but I cannot let these feelings affect me. I am leaving the Normal and this place, I need answers and there are only questions here.
The world has changed since I left it. I will travel, like people do.”
“So what? She’s left to go soul searching?” Duke said unconvinced.
“Should we go after her?” Duke asked.
“No. I too know what it’s like to be pulled into the light of humanity…this is something she must do. My wife, perhaps she is not truly lost.” Vlad said and went to leave the castle.
“You can’t leave, we have to fight the Normal.” Wyatt said stopping the taller vampire.
“It is your fight, my child. It is your throne now, not mine. Prove yourself worthy of leading our people.” Vlad said and places his hand on Wyatt’s shoulder.
With a nod he left and at the front door he passed Hanako.
“Care to join me my child?” He asked.
“There is still work to be done here. Do you really think you can save your wife?” Hanako scoffed.
“I have to help her, the same way she helped me so long ago.” He replied, “How did you know she was already gone?”
“I’ve seen a demoness around, Camellia. My intel suggests she has recently aligned herself with the Normal, they must be pulling Vanessa’s strings. No way the Mad Queen could have made these cyborgs. Vanessa’s personality has become even more unstable so she bailed.” Hanako answered.
Hanako watched him smile before leaving in the form of a black fog. She had no love for the vampires and was unsure if helping them take back their realms was a good idea. But the if the vampire conflict continued more innocent people would be in danger, she saw no choice but to help Wyatt and his family, for now.
