"Whoa, bro, been drinking a lot of milk lately?" Luca couldn't help but let out a laugh as his stepsister Dawn was now looking up at him.
Before he'd set the changes on the Chronivac, Luca had stood at a mere 5'3, leaving not much of a height difference between him and Dawn. She was 5'2, after all, leaving not much of a gap between them. That was before he'd enacted those changes, however.
Luca had made sure to be very specific with his own changes before confirming them, if he really was playing around with a transformative device, it wouldn't hurt to exercise a healthy bit of caution. Firstly, he'd made the progression of the changes gradual, setting from to run from the 1st of May to his birthday, which just happened to be on the 3rd of June. It left the Chronivac about a month to evenly work its magic, while Luca had made sure nothing about him would genuinely stand out to his family or maybe his friends.
He'd made use of the awareness settings for that, after all. The only person who would fully grasp that such a drastic change would be taking place would be Luca himself, as he'd left himself completely aware. Everyone else was semi-aware, which essentially meant that they'd register him changing, but wouldn't see anything weird about it. They'd have some sort of reaction, maybe being impressed or a tad bit curious for his routine, but Luca had ensured that no one else would register anything inherently wrong about it.
Anyway, it had been a good week since Luca had enacted that, and he'd been pleasantly surprised to see some noticeable results. His figure had started to fill itself out, making a decent departure from the skinny build he'd possessed before getting the Chronivac. Still, it was far from the muscular beach body he'd hope to obtain by his birthday. In addition, he'd gained a sudden growth of 3 inches, leaving him standing at 5'6.
Which, naturally, had caught the attention of his step-sister Dawn one morning before school.
"Something like that." He'd say, ruffling Dawn's hair, smiling as she'd make her usual protests. "Maybe I've just finally gone and gotten my growth spurt?"
"Hey...!" She'd let out, doing her best to swat away Luca's hands, the two sitting at the table for breakfast as they usually did. Veronica, their mom, had made pancakes for today, with Dawn and Luca happy to indulge. "Still, a growth spurt at 17 is better than never, right?"
Luca would nod, if only Dawn knew what else he'd set in store for himself with the Chronivac.
"Well, I think Luca's developing into the young man the Lord has intended for him to be." Their mother would let out from the sink, already washing the pans and utensils she'd used to make breakfast.
A dry chuckle would escape Luca's lips at that, resisting the urge to shake his head as he got up from the table. "Well, thanks for the pancakes Mom, I'm off to school now."
"And you Dawn?" Veronica would ask, getting a shake of the head from her daughter.
"The school's planned a field trip to some dusty old museum for my grade today," Dawn would say, a disinterested tone entering her voice. "I opted out of it a couple weeks ago, so I'll just stay home for today."
"Lucky you," Luca would say, earning a stuck out tongue from his sister. Still, if Dawn was staying home... his parents respected the privacy of his room most of the time, but Dawn made it a habit to lounge about on Luca's bed when she had her own room. Luca didn't mind most of the time, but now that he'd had the Chronivac... "Just stay out of my room for today, okay?"
"Huh? What, got some magazines you don't want me to find?" Dawn would say teasingly, drawing the attention of their mom.
"Magazines...?"
"N-Never mind, do whatever you want, Dawn." Luca would hastily let out, not wanting to get caught in an awkward situation with his mom. He didn't have anything like that, but just explaining it to his overly religious mom was something he wanted to avoid.
With that, Luca would make sure to pocket his smartphone, still with the Chronivac software, and would take it with him as he went to school.
That would leave the Chronivac alone in the house with his step-sister, mom, and dad... But, it would probably be fine, right?
