Andy stank a little.
It wasn't something he'd thought about when he asked his magic universe-changing book for a crazy growth spurt, so maybe the book hadn't shared that bit of information. But within a few days of writing his plans into the book, Andy had to start taking showers twice a day as his skin got shiny and oily again, and he had to start swapping underclothes because after a few hours they smelt like sweat and burning hair.
Which... gross, and annoying, and Andy couldn't believe he forgot what this was like back when he was fourteen. He was really tempted to make a quick edit in the book to fix it, but... well, not much else had really CHANGED yet, and as annoying as it was to hit the showers twice a day it was at least PROOF that something was different.
Tristan hadn't noticed anything at least. His roommate was hanging out at the frats most of the time, and even when he was around the guy used that strong nasty body spray shit ALL THE TIME, so Andy was pretty sure his nose had just given up a while ago. Still, while Andy didn't want the guy to think he STANK, he did want Tristan to notice SOMETHING. Heck, Andy wanted to notice something, anything, about HIMSELF when he looked in the mirror. But it had been over two weeks, and he had nothing to show for it other than freaking B.O.
"Well," Andy muttered with a grimace as he felt his stomach RUMBLE like some kind of large predator, "maybe not nothing."
Andy thanked heaven every day that his dorm served buffet because his appetite was, frankly, insane. He hadn't had less than three plates a meal in weeks, and sometimes just the SMELL of food had him veering away from whatever he was doing to go get a snack. He didn't look any different from what he could tell, but he had packed on another five pounds somewhere.
"Maybe I should work out," he mused, tapping his cheek. He HAD set it up for his muscles to respond to workouts really well, and that would at least be something to see changing. Something for Tristan to notice.
Andy shook his head, chasing away that thought. Sure, he wanted to freak his asshole roommate out, maybe get some payback for Tristan constantly showing off in front of him. But this wasn't REALLY about Tristan. Andy was better than that.
Andy's shoes were tight.
He grinned, pinching at the toes of his shoes, and almost laughed when he felt his toes pushing out from the other side. Finally, something visible! Cocking an eyebrow, Andy eyed the wall beside his bed, where he'd hung a framed poster of a screaming opossum that just read "MOOD". Some quick shifting and he'd set the poster on his bed and stuck some blank paper on the wall, with the bottom edge level with his eyes.
Rolling his eyes at himself for being so childish, Andy carefully marked his height on the paper and grabbed the tape measure that he'd totally bought during the first week after finding the book. A few seconds later he let out a whoop when he confirmed he'd finally hit six feet!
After putting the poster back up in front of his new height tracker, Andy gave himself a closer look-over to see if he could spot the extra inch. Since his college was in southern California, and most of his clothes were shorts... he couldn't see it. A quick rummage through his dresser had him shimmying into a pair of dress pants that... maybe were a little short? They looked fine but they did ride up when he was sitting down.
Andy shrugged, and grabbed his keys. He'd hit up the mall for some size elevens; even if they were a bit big (for now) he didn't want to buy new shoes every other week. New pants could wait, maybe for next time. For now though, Andy was feeling six feet tall!
