Two hours after they had left, with the office furniture cleaned out, Jenny and JJ returned. With them was the mysterious Becky. Jeff did a double take as he saw her. She was none other than a blonde version of his 15 year old sister Rachel.
He wondered how he could have forgotten about Rachel. She lived in the room beside his. The room now occupied by Irene. Jeff hadn’t completely forgotten his sister. She had apparently just slipped from his mind. Somehow the Chronivac had altered reality to make Rachel into “Becky” the daughter of his matured girlfriend Jenny. Although in this reality Jenny was now his father’s fiancé. It was very confusing.
Like everyone else “Becky” was totally oblivious to the reality changes. She greeted Jeff with a hug ‘Isn’t this so exciting. We are going to be brother and sister!’ Jeff feigned enthusiasm. He was actually a bit relieved that Rachel had returned even if she now had another name. It seemed the Chronivac didn’t just make people out of thin air. It perhaps created the new reality by making the least changes that were necessary. Jeff would have to familiarise himself with the manual.
He got a chance to study “Becky” she had Rachel’s facial features, build and stature (pretty identical to Irene’s), even her hairstyle and voice. She was wearing what Jeff recognised as Rachel’s favourite dress. Only her hair seemed to be the same blonde colour of Jenny’s and she had the same blue eyes as Jenny. He could certainly see similarities between “Becky” and Irene. If you saw the two of them together alone you might mistake them for mother and daughter. However, he could also see similarities between “Becky” and Jenny. The Chronivac had given “Becky” enough of Jenny’s features to make her unmistakably Jenny’s daughter.
Jeff recalled the conversation he had overheard between Jenny and Irene last night where Jenny had spoken of her daughter who had been over on a sleepover. Had the Chronivac somehow heard that conversation and deemed it easier to create Jenny’s daughter from Rachel, who conveniently was also on a sleepover?
Jenny and JJ didn’t stay for long at all. Jeff helped his father unload some boxes of clothes, from his car (Evidently belonging to Becky), then JJ and Jenny left to go ring shopping. He had no chance of altering Jenny with the Chronivac. Jeff couldn’t help but notice how sensual Jenny looked in her lilac dress. He also noticed she was now in heels of the same colour. Her phone was constantly ringing. Seemingly her friends replying about the party tonight.
Jeff felt heart palpitations as Jenny slid into the front passenger seat beside his father. His desire for her had not abated.
