Dmitri and Yevgeney returned shortly after Sassy was given her new form. The brothers stopped and stared at the brilliant white mare in shock.
"What...happened?" Yevgeney asked.
"I am not sure," Dmitri said. "I will have to ask." He mumbled under his breath the words to a spell. When finished, he cleared his throat. "What happened to the black Arabian?" he asked Sassy. Sassy stomped her hooves.
"I am her. Anya transformed me to protect me," Sassy replied. Dmitri frowned. Sassy nodded at Anya. "This is Anya." Dmitri's eyes widened. He gripped Yevgeney's arm.
"I can only speak to one of the mares with this spell, but we must hear from the palomino. Cast the spell yourself so we may do so."
"All right, all right," Yevgeney said. "Calm down." He cast the spell himself and spoke to Anya. "Why is my brother so concerned about speaking with you?" Anya tossed her head.
"It is a long story, brother..."
When Anya finished, the brothers were in shock. After a few moments digesting what they had been told, they determined it would be best for Sassy to remain as she was. They didn't say the same for Anya, however.
"Between the two of us, we should be able to lift the curse," Dmitri said. Yevgeney nodded.
"Though whether you can return to a human form is another matter entirely," Yevgeney said. "Pregnancy tends to interfere with transformational magic."
"Of course, remaining a horse to keep Sassy company is an option as well," Dmitri pointed out. The brothers looked at Anya. "Ultimately, sister, it is your decision. What do you want?"
