The Case

added 17 years ago O

The following takes place in Sandy Springs, GA:

Ralph Masters returned home Friday night after a long day at the police station.  He was used to strange cases but this latest one must have been taken out of a horror movie.  He was reviewing the summary he had taken on the files, as he sat down at the table.

Ron Williams, age 23, caucasian, height:  6'0", weight: 180 lbs, called in Monday, March 27, 2006 at 11:30 pm.  Lives on 8920 Ridgemont Dr.  Real estate agent with a history in biology as well.

States that he just gotten back home early one night after going to a bar for a few drinks, when he heard a strange howl coming from nearby.  Claims that he recognized it as the howl of a gray wolf (More likely a coyote.)

He continued to walk towards his house with no further interference, but when he got to the door, he found that the lock had been broken and the door left ajar.

Taking out his pistol (has a permit for the gun.) and entering the house, he saw that everything was covered completely in blood and a bloody pawprints which he states belonged to a large canine larger than those of any known species in the fossil records.

Carefully entering the kitchen, he called in to report the incident.

Police arrived within 10 minutes to find the house empty, no sign of any evidence or the owner.

John Brown, age 24, african-american, Height: 6'1"; weight: 200 lbs.  Lives on 9300 Huntcliff Trace.  Studying for master's degree. Tuesday, 4:00 pm

Called in on Tuesday to report a similar incident, except that he claims that a large feline he saw inside the house was to blame.

Once again police arrived to find no evidence of animal nor human.

Fiona Rudolph, age 22, caucasian, height: 5'8"; weight: 115 lb.  college student, visiting parents house at 100 Ridgemont Trace.  Found house empty, with same conditions as the first two.  Claimed to be a bear.  Same result.  Wednesday, 9:00 am.

The links between them were easily identified, each occured in the Huntcliff subdivision within roughly a mile and a half from each other.  They were all in their early to mid-twenties all slightly better than average height but he still felt like he was wasting his time as long as their wasn't any evidence to prove who had done any of it.

The phone rang abruptly and he got up to get it.

"Hello."

"We've got another one, but get this, he claimed that he found leaves on the floor and slide marks where something slid across it.  Other than that same story as the others. Lived on 8900 Riverlanding Way, it leads right into Ridgemont drive, the same place where the first guy reported his case."

"Who was the victim?"

"Hernando Lopez, age 24, hispanic, height: 6'0", weight:  177 lb.  He was interested in buying the house, got there at noon and apparently that's when he called in."

"Any relations to the other victims other than the obvious?"

"Just that all the victims were in good shape and were well off for their age.  Other than that none of them knew each other.  No new evidence either, whoever this guy is he's good at covering his tracks."

"From what I've heard so far I would say that it's more than one person.  One person goes into the house waits for the guy to show up, grabs him, the rest come in to cover it up.  Other than that, it's all ritual, the blood, the animal or in this case tree prints."

"Yeah, but still I've got a bad feeling about this."

"Just keep cool, this will blow over soon enough."

He hung up the phone.  For once, he would like to have a normal conversation but ever since he got out of college all he could focus on was his police duties.  He was now 27 and hadn't had a girlfriend in almost four years.

It wasn't all bad though he enjoyed his work and he didn't just do desk work like some cops were stuck with.  He even caught a cop killer once, though he admits it was more good luck than anything else.

Putting things away, he would come back to them later, right then he needed to eat dinner before he starved.  There was a scratching sound at the window and some rustling sounds outside the door but he put this aside for nothing.
