The Costume Store: A Deer Experience

added 16 days ago A BM TG

It took you awhile and a good bit of frustration. You were dealing with four legs now, instead of the usual two as well as missing two arms. You wanted to stand, but you needed to figure out how to use your new Deer limbs as any major attempts at standing just resulted in you tumbling over yourself. You wondered what a sight you were, testing each limb experimentally like you were a sapient creature. You were, of course, but a deer now.

As you felt more confident in using your climbs, you made more attempts at standing again. These weren't as catastrophic as the previous attempts, but half the battle felt like coordination and balance. The exertions made you take breaks, and you were feeling a bit hot and bothered by your udders touching and rubbing against the ground. The issue of them and other things crossed your mind again, but you put it aside now as having mobility and the threat of predators was a pressing issue, especially when you heard the ambient noises of the forest.

Eventually you were able to keep stand and for a period of time. You were shakey and imagined the the videos you've seen of some newborn animals, especially horses, finding their legs for the first time. But you were an adult, albeit former human. You needed to make more progress though, so although you were a novice at standing, your decided to press ahead with walking... and promptly fell over again.

As before, you regained your breath when you could and made more attempts, and got more progress. You went to stilted steps without falling, but it was slow-going and still strenuous, requiring further breaks. This felt like forever, but you took note of the shadows of the forest floor, using some objects as reference. You had no skills to be out in the wilderness at all, but you could use some common sense and ingenuity to feel things out. Maybe just a hour passed?

Eventually, you got to the point where you could walk to a reasonable degree. You didn't feel like a deer much less walk like one, but it didn't feel like a major struggle. You wondered if the Deer brain was kicking in yet to help with all this. To further test your skill, you were already testing moving your head around while you moved, moving in different directions, and even pivot. It was still awkward, but at least you didn't feel like taking a break anymore. A quick attempt at speeding up resulted in a tumble again. You didn't want to push this again until you got more use to your body.

Speaking of which, you took in your surroundings and wondered what to do next...
