Then she felt her feet lift off the floor. She looked down, feeling the edge of her chair pushing away. It took a few seconds to realize that her shrinking had sped up.
Her shirt became very baggy, and she fumbled to pull it over her head. As it dropped to the floor, Mary watched the edge of the counter rise above her head. She repositioned herself, bringing her feet up onto the chair. She then became aware of something odd...or at least, unexpected.
Her belly was growing bigger. It had started to stick out before, as she was eating, but now it looked as though Mary was pregnant. As her body continued to lose height, her belly continued to gain heft. She felt the pain inside her as her stomach stretched painfully and collided with other organs. Horror filled her as she realized that, though her body was shrinking, the food she had eaten wasn't!
Pain wracked her body as she held her widening stomach with both arms. It seemed like a large beach ball was growing out of her chest. Finally, the world around her stopped growing. Her shrinking felt like it had subsided. Even the pain began to taper off as her stomach became used to its condition. She tried to stand, but the weight was too unbalanced.
Then, with a chorus of loud gurgling, her stomach shifted. The mass began to shrink as its contents poured across her waist. Her buttocks plumped up, along with her chest and thighs. As the food magically digested into fat, it filtered through her entire body. Her arms bulked up and her cheeks inflated. Her neck grew wide and formed a double chin. Her breasts grew wider and rested on folds that had developed in her chest.
Mary was finally able to stand up on her chubby little hind paws. Her now very fat body, covered in white fur, moved a little slower, but at least she was standing.
The aroma of the remaining cheese caught the attention of her new sensitive nose. Fortunately, she was still tall enough to climb from the chair to the counter. But in the back of her mind, the rational portion of her being--which was becoming fainter by the minute--asked herself if she should do something other than eat at a time like this.
