“Did you do this on purpose Drew?” asked the guy who used to be Kate.
“No. Not at all. I closed my eyes and picked a random pair of skates. Look” Drew pointed at what remained in the stall she had used. All that was there was the medallion and the pair of skates that Drew had touched the medallion to. “Did you go skating earlier today?”
“Hmmm… I did. I could well have used these skates. They are my size” The guy had picked up the skates and was examining them
“I didn’t do this on purpose” Drew uttered in a duplicate of Kate’s former voice.
“I guess I believe you” the guy said
Drew observed “Without your glasses I could barely see a thing”
“Tell me about it. I’ve been nearsighted since I was tiny” observed the guy. “My or should I say your prescription is -4. You also now have astigmatism. It’s a first for me to be able to see more than 10 inches without glasses. I'm legally blind without them”
Now wearing Kate’s glasses, Drew was able to have a good look at the guy Kate had become. He seemed tall, but that may have just been because Drew was now a few inches shorter than she was used to. The guy had short dark hair, brown eyes, tanned skin and seemed quite fit. He was apparently naked but for a towel wrapped around his waist.
“Any idea who you are?” Drew asked Kate.
“I’ve seen this guy around” said Kate looking at himself in a mirror. “I’m pretty sure he is a college student. Don’t know his name though”
“You do look a bit familiar. I guess the guy must come skating occasionally”
“That’s obvious. He used the pair of skates I choose”
“So what do we do now?”
“Find some clothes for me. You at least will have a choice as I keep a change of clothes in my locker. You’re lucky I bought in some clean underwear yesterday, otherwise you would be wearing what I’ve had on for the last 24 hours” The former Kate indicated a bunch of clothes now on the changeroom bench. Drew couldn’t help but notice a pale blue bra and matching panties sitting on top of the pile.
Drew thought it a bit strange that Kate kept her locker at work stacked with fresh underwear. The only clothes he kept in his own locker was a coat in case the weather turned sour while at work. Speaking of which he could still hear the rain pelting down on the roof. “Ah… Yeah… I guess that would be good. I’ll have to be you for the next 12 hours. You are welcome to my clothes but I really only have what I have on” Drew was still wearing the ill-fitting clothes.
“No offence but you’ve also been wearing those clothes for 24 hours. I know the boss keeps a change of clothes in his office. I’ll see what I can find. Come on. I’ll open my locker and you will see what choices you have”
Drew found herself following the semi-naked guy to the staff locker room. She watched as the guy Kate had become opened the combination of the lock. “There’s clean underwear in that draw and a choice of several dresses. I keep a change here just in case there is a chance to go out after work. It takes me 25 minutes to get home so it’s much more convenient to just keep some options in my locker”
Drew knew Kate lived out of town. “You live near Collinsburb don’t you?”
“Yeah I lodge with my aunt. She has 5 acres on the Brently road”
“Does she know you are stuck here”
“Yeah I rang her last night. She won’t be too worried. The phones are still working. She can ring if she is concerned” The former Kate thought for a few seconds “Perhaps you should have my phone. Best you answer if it rings. You’re Kate for the next 12 hours” Kate extracted an iphone from the pile of dirty ‘Kate’ clothes he had just placed in the bottom of the locker.
Drew accepted the phone. What Kate had said made sense. If anyone rang this phone it would be best if she answered. “If I’m Kate, what do I call you?”
“I don’t know. Do you think I look a bit Latino? Maybe I could be Miguel. I have always liked that name”
“I suppose it will do” answered Drew
“Anyway, I will leave you to make your choice. Anything you want. I’m off to see what the boss might have for Miguel” With that the former Kate left the locker room
