Lynn was becoming more frustrated with her work situation by the minute. It wasn't fair for her not to get a designated lunch break. She was reduced to begging her co-workers for scraps like an animal. She was a human, after all, just with some limitations. Anyway, the law was behind Lynn. The Americans with Disabilities Act meant that her employer had to make special considerations for her. She decided to bring her complaints to human resources, but anticipated difficulty there as well. The HR representative couldn't understand her vocalizations, nor her body language. The last time she had to seem them it devolved into "one bark for yes and two for no," how humiliating. As Lynn lay on the cool break room tile, clarity struck her like a lightning bolt.
Steve toggled on Lynn's awareness as he stood in the doorway. She howled loudly, startling the other workers present. Lynn extended her forelegs out in disbelief her stretched body shivering. She let out a series of short ::barks:: as she scanned the faces in the room. Failing to get a reaction, Lynn turned her upper body to the side, noticing, to her horror, that she had a tail.
A million thoughts went through her mind. She was naked in the office, it had to be a bad dream. Lynn shook her head, trying to wake herself up, but only managed to fling thin strands of saliva in either direction. Lynn tried to push herself into a standing position, her tail naturally curving between her legs for want of modesty. She managed to stand for a moment, but her legs were shaky and the pose felt uncomfortable. Frantically, Lynn rushed around the room, barking as she tried to plead for someone, anyone, to hear and understand her. "Down, girl," someone said. Lynn became aware of how.much smaller she was than her human form. Everyone towered over her and were more physically imposing.
Steve drank it all in, smiling broadly. This was his favorite part, so far, the Boss Bitch had become a circus freak and had no idea why. Tentatively, Steve decided to break his silence. "Hey, girl!" He patted his hand on his hip, as the other held the computer. "Come'ere Lynn, come."
Lynn was taken aback. Of all the people to acknowledge her, it was the loser IT geek? She ::barked:: softly, asking if he could understand her. He didn't seem to, but he held eye contact as he left the room. Lynn decided to follow him, ::whining:: in fear as she loped on all fours. The two approached the small IT office and Steve called Lynn inside. She began feeling anxious as he closed the door.
