Vivian rubs her hands together, smiling, “let’s get this game started,” she says excitedly, “the game looks amazing so far, really high quality, it surprises me that the developers gave it out for free”.
The girl decides to gather information about the Temple from the people first, so after selecting the option a map of her surroundings, showing the names of buildings, like: “Inn”, “Church”, “Palace”, “Town Centre”, “Blacksmith”, “Store”,… the map shows not only buildings, but also the people which have a “talk to” button over their heads. In the lower left corner, there is an arrow with the word “desert” next to it, Vivian assumes that she’d leave the town and find herself in the desert if she were to select it.
Vivian thinks for a while before deciding to talk to a young lady and see if she’d might know something about a temple. After selecting the lady, the map closes and a message appears, “you are able to open the map any time. Simply tap the map-symbol in the top right corner of your screen”.
Back in the game, Jeff is still in shock, but he suddenly feels himself relax and start to walk towards a young looking lady, a sudden urge of wanting to gather information from her grows in him, ‘wh-what is going on,’ he thinks to himself, ‘why is my body moving all by itself? Is… is someone controlling me? No, impossible, I haven’t released my game on any App store and never will! So… why don’t I have any control,’ Jeff is unaware that his game has been released on the App-store by the Chronivac and that his little sister is controlling him.
“Excuse me, miss,” the “girl” says when she reaches the young lady.
The lady looks up and smiles at the “young girl”, “hello sweety, what can I do for you,” she asks kindly.
Vivian notices that options have appeared on her screen:
- “Can you tell about “the Temple of Anubis”?”
- “I’m looking for a place to stay”.
- “Never mind”.
“Can you tell me something about the temple of Anubis,” the 12-year-old “girl” asks.
“Hm… I did hear legends about a place with that name,” the lady says, “but unfortunately, I have no other information about it, only that it’s supposedly cursed. So, you should better stay away from it… IF such a place should exist. Is there anything else I can do for you?”
Again, Vivian sees options pop up on her scree:
- “I’m looking for a place to stay!”
- “Not right now”.
“Not right now,” “Vivian” says.
“Okay, sweetheart,” the lady says, then just turns away and “Vivian” finds herself starting to walk to the next person.
‘Wh-what is going on? Seriously,’ Jeff thinks to himself, ‘why do I feel as if I am not myself? I don’t understand? Did something go wrong? I want to check the settings and log out, but I’m unable to access the menu!’
Back in Jeff’s true reality, Vivian is oblivious to her brother’s situation, for her the game and her “character” look normal, so the 6-year-old continues to ask random people, but neither of them seem to know anything about a temple. Vivian grumbles, ‘someone has to know something,’ she mumbles as she opens the map, ‘there is only one person left, I hope he knows something, though he does look a little creepy with that black robe. He also looks like someone important!’
As “Vivian” approaches the mysterious and creepy figure, Jeff can’t help but feel uneasy, except his body remains relaxed, ‘I don’t like that guy’s vibe,’ the former 16-year-old boy thinks to himself. “Excuse me, sir,” Jeff mentally grimaces as his mouth moves on its own for at least the tenth time, “but, could you help me? I’m looking for information”.
“What kind of information, little girl,” the man asks.
The options:
- “Can you tell me something about the “temple of Anubis”?”
- “I’m looking for a place to stay”.
- “Nevermind”.
“I’m looking for the “Temple of Anubis”,” the 12-year-old “girl” says after Vivian chose the first option, “can you tell me something about it?”
The stranger doesn’t reply at first, ‘why would this young girl want to find the temple,’ he asks himself, “I might know something, little girl,” he then says, “but, first tell me: why are you seeking information about it?”
“I enjoy exploring and mysteries,” “Vivian” says.
“I see,” the stranger says, “well, the temple does exist, but it’s not a place for little girls like you!”
“I’M NOT A FREAKING GIRL! I’M A BOY,” Jeff tries to respond, but instead his mouth replies, “I’m not that little! I’m 12… which makes me old enough to take care of myself… besides: I love stuff with possible dangers, makes everything so much more interesting!”
The stranger chuckles, which sounds rather creepy, “so, you’re a so called “dare devil”? I kind of like that,” he says, ‘this girl sure is interesting! Not only is she stunning, she is also in the legal age for a relationship and marriage,’ he thinks to himself. Since the game is designed to be playing in ancient Egypt, the laws are different than the modern day Egypt, back in the old day, it was NORMAL for females to marry at around 12 or 13 years of age. After a while of silence the mysterious and creepy man finally speaks up again, “you know, I’m actually searching for that temple myself. What would you think if we’d work together to find it and share the treasures between us?”
Once again options appear on Vivian’s screen:
- “I accept your offer”.
- “Um… I… I’d rather not. Y-you are not really giving off a trusting vibe!”
