Jess fixed a turkey and ham sandwich for herself and a tuna fish sandwich for little Mary. Before serving it, Jess looked at Mary, who was sulking at the table. Her head rested in her folded arms on the table top. She looked very cute, but her cat features weren't as pronounced as they could be, particularly on her face. Not to mention those opposable thumbs of hers could cause trouble. She quietly took the Cat vial out of the box and sprinkled a few drops over the tuna.
"Lunch is ready!" she said, placing the sandwich and a glass of milk in front of Mary. Then she sat down to eat her own sandwich.
Jess was halfway through hers when she saw Mary hadn't even lifted her head off the table. "Aren't you hungry?" she asked. Mary's stomach answered her with a timid growl. "Eat up. It's good." Jess continued chowing down.
Finally, Mary took up her sandwich and sunk her fangs into it, chewing slowly.
It didn't start happening until she was nearly finished, but Jess could see faint changes appearing on Mary's face. If Mary was feeling anything--tingling or aching--she was probably dismissing it as a part of her chewing. Her minuscule muzzle became more pronounced, growing out farther than it had before. Her whiskers lengthened by the inch.
Her fingers shortened, and her thumb shrank so much she dropped the remains of her sandwich. With her new large cat paws, Mary braced herself against the table as she lowered her head to eat it right off the plate. Her body shrank a couple more inches, and the blond hair on her head completely disappeared. Her bow dropped onto the table.
"Good girl, Mary," Jess said as Mary licked the final crumbs off her plate. As Mary jumped off her chair, Jess noticed that her shoes had fallen off. She helped Mary tug off her socks, which were no longer compatible with her completely-developed hind paws. "Well, aren't you just even cuter than ever?" she said to the girl.
"Can I mrrow go back towwrr the tv?" she asked innocently.
"What's the magic word?"
"Mmmmrr... Please?"
"Yes you may."
"Thank youwwrr." Mary walked off, her tail swaying from under her skirt. Jess thought to herself that it was probably about time to end their little game, but a part of her wished she could keep caring for Mary forever. She was so cute and innocent... Jess certainly couldn't call herself innocent anymore. Not after kidnapping and drugging her best friend. Things had gone far beyond a mere prank. She looked over at the vials and wondered what she should do.
