Marcus trotted off toward the center of the abandoned village, well it wasn’t abandoned anymore it was likely their new home for the rest of their lives. He didn’t just accept that Ben’s theory that the centaur god, Epona had somehow used the painting to bring them to this world, he knew it was true. He knew that he and the others were basically the Adams and Eves to repopulate this world with centaurs.
He ran through the abounded streets past the simple homes and the like before arriving in the small group of homes located in the town square. They had taken this as their base camp and while some hadn’t accepted the coming change, he knew this was going to be their new home.
Amanda just happened to be walking toward the central fire pit which was where they would prepare the multiple rabbits and like for the evening meal. She was still human, however, she however not wearing a shirt. Instead, she was wearing a black sports bra with her university shirt tied around her waist. This wasn’t just because of the heat; it was a warm spring night but it was clear running down the back of her neck to the small of her back was a line of rich auburn brown hair like a horse mane.
He had a similar line of hair running down her spin, that appeared on everyone so far, so Amanda had started to transform as well.
“Amanda.” Said Marcus as he came up.
Everyone else turned and looked at him as they were either preparing the food or getting water and the like for a meal. Snow was preparing something that looked kin to corn that they found growing in the abounded fields while Wendy and Midnight where working on tearing up a hog into something a kin to pulled pork.
“Lucy and Bolt have changed.” Stated Marcus
“Fuck.” Cursed Amanda before she refocused herself. “Are they ok?”
“For the most part.” Said Lucy as she and Bolt helped by Ben and June moved toward the fire.
There were now, only two humans and two horses remaining and Amanda was showing clear signs that she would soon change and her horse Daisy was showing signs as well. Patches of human skin where clear had replaced her deep red color fur.
“I think we are all staying here.” Admitted Amanda “I don’t even think Daisy, Lightning, Ben or myself will make it through the night.”
“More then likely.” Stated Ben, his shoes felt uncomfortable and he wouldn’t be surprised if his feet where turning into hooves. “I have a theory.”
He went on to explain his idea that they had been transported here to rebuild the population of the centaur world. They were the new Adams and Eves.
“I guess that makes some sense.” Stated Wendy
“Not really.” Countered Amanda
“We are or have become centaurs and that you don’t believe?” inquired Marcus
“It isn’t that I don’t believe it, it is just with only 6 mated pairs that makes a very small DNA pool.” Stated Amanda before she let out a resigned sigh. “Given we are transforming, I assume the god or goddess can handle making the DNA pool bigger but either we are all going to start pumping out a shit ton of foals, or….”
“Or more humans and horses may come to this world as well to become Centaurs. We may be the first to arrive or the first to find this village, others may be coming or have arrived before us and we have haven’t found them yet.” Added Ben as everyone considered.
“First we need to survive and that starts by forming a plan, we have fields to clear and replant, homes to repair and so on.” Said Amanda “We have a busy day in front of us tomorrow and by sunrise there may be no humans or horses left only centaurs.”
