This was the moment of truth... or well almost. Whenever Cody blinked, his eyes suddenly turned pools of colors. He was probably in a trance for thirty minutes until anything started happening. And then his body seemed to shift ever so slightly under its own accord.
Several inches grew from the tips of his fingers, and legs. His ears twisted and lengthened until they became pointy. Glancing down he saw a furry tail sprout out from his waist...letting out a sweet sounding hoot in surprise. Colorful feathers began growing, along with his spine lengthening and making his shirt uncomfortably tight. What would he mutate into? Would anyone know when it'd be done? He looked back to his comrades...and saw another wild change alongside his friends.
A feral fluttering caught his eye, and he followed the motion straight to a black haired girl and a tall, lanky boy right next to her. The boy now sported snow white feathery wings that shredded his shirt completely off; while the goth girl was furred from wrists to ankles, with new elongated canines dripping with slime. Could he end up like that winged boy, teamed up with his infatuation?
The realization that he and Starlight had to stay in each other's proximity helped the relationship feel secure. His pure thoughts grew partially because of their love for all things forest, so they'd be sharing everything from then on. Until Wade nudged Cody back into attention to move with him.
Cody immediately nodded and started northward through the open field at full speed...and stopped after only traveling a few yards. The transformations sure weren't as painless as he imagined, since he was feeling some serious muscle fatigue after his long sprint. He panted and glared at the bushy white tail waving unflatteringly behind him, as if it were draining away all of the energy for itself.
Starlight got into a more comfortable stance (with him in front) before shimmering her reflective wings halfway out and running steadily behind him. "Our metabolism is gonna be high until this is all over," she teased, "so you might as well drag me around too." Though Cody never could be certain what type of magic power was changing them--or if they'll ever find out before they fully become creatures.
"That explains why I've got the biggest craving all of a sudden," Wade quipped quickly while encasing his body around the goth girl Olivia with his muscled arm; which seemed to be even bigger than yesterday, tearing his sleeves with every slight movement. A sharp pain seemed to hit him and he had to stop the hike to remove his boots and socks, which had grown too tight to handle.
Before resuming the journey, he tightened his arm around Olivia. Even separated by layers of clothes, they could feel each other's skin making contact due to their height difference--and how she discovered that one of his growth spurts resulted in more pungent body odor. Despite her disgust she felt a fluttering in his presumed direction...Guess whatever mutations are taking place were already attracting them together.
Some girls drew closer together for safety purposes, as Olivia's eyes gathered metallic reflections which revealed the dull red surroundings of blood vessels within the iris. Which allegedly predicted she would become just as feral as Wade had become so far--that is if it comes to that. Plenty of luck awaited however, no matter how morbid or grotesque they felt inside at times..."Well maybe we should hurry before Cody and Star--oh wait."
"Good idea," Starlight replied deeply (putting forth bigger efforts into walking and holding onto Cody with both hands). She never planned on becoming an athlete anyway especially now, because they sure didn't look like athletes. "I think we stopped changing for now. We're too exhausted and we need a bite to eat. And uh, unless we missed a trail marker somehow, we're gonna have to find it in the wild."
