Kat noticed a change in Dan's behavior. He became more affectionate and loyal towards her, following her everywhere and always eager to please her. She began to wonder if perhaps becoming a dog was the best thing that could have happened to him, despite the initial pain and humiliation.
As the days passed, Dan continued to bond with Starlight and become more comfortable with his new identity as a dog. He even started to forget about his human past, focusing instead on the present moment and the joys of being a canine companion.
One morning, Kat woke up to find Dan curled up beside her, his head resting on her pillow. She smiled and reached out to stroke his soft fur. To her surprise, Dan lifted his head and licked her hand, before returning to sleep.
Kat was stunned. She had never seen Dan behave like this before. Was it possible that he had truly embraced his new form as a dog? Or was he simply acting out of habit?
She watched Dan breathe steadily and peacefully. Then she leaned over and kissed him gently on the forehead, whispering softly in his ear, "Good boy, Dan."
Dan stirred slightly in his sleep, but otherwise remained motionless. Kat smiled and drifted back to sleep herself, feeling a sense of peace and contentment that she hadn't experienced in years.
When she woke up later that morning, she found Dan lying beside Starlight, who was nursing her newborn puppies. Dan looked up at her with a look of pure happiness on his face, and Kat knew that he had truly accepted his new role as a dog.
