"Ah, Karissa! Perfect timing" shouted Doctor Thomas to a nurse clad in a typical outfit for a young woman in the field, white dress that covered half her long legs and half her perky breasts. White cap holding her long hair in a practical bun. Typical stuff, really. "Come on, I need you for her last sonogram!"
She blinked, and looked. "Um...uh...."
He grabbed her arm, not forcefully, but gingerly enough that she was dragged along. "Wait, what's...g-going on? Where are we going?"
"Her water could break at any moment, wouldn't want my star midwife out of sight, now, would we?" the doctor replied as if it was obvious. He looked to the two children in the waiting room, clearly bored out of their mind. "It'll only take an hour or two, just stay put and your mother will be out with your new sister."
The boy, Wyatt, grumbled as Doctor Thomas left for the Sonography room. The young boy had been left here with his little sister Riley, and all she did was ask questions.
"Wyatt, will mom come out with the baby?" Riley asked, getting up close in his personal space.
"I don't know, Riley. Stop asking that. Go...I don't know....read one of those magazines," he suggested, waving his hand at her.
She responded with a pout. "Nuh-uh. They're all boooring. Play with me, Wyatt! Pleeease?" she began to jump up and down.
"Cut it out, you're making a scene. Didn't you bring your doll to play with?" Wyatt asked.
"I did...but...it's no fun when it's just me..."
Wyatt sighed and looked around the room. Surely something here might entertain his high-maintenance sister. After a quick sweep, he peeked into Doctor Thomas' office and spotted a strange looking toy that looked like a genie lamp. Well, his sister loved to play pretend.
"There! Look! It's a magic lamp! Why don't you go make some wishes!" he said to her with mock excitement.
She gasped and quickly ran over to it. "Yay! Wait...um...how do I make a wish?"
Wyatt rolled his eyes. "You rub it, then say your wishes."
"Okie dokie!" she giggled, then began rubbing it, ideas in her head of what to wish for.
-----------------
You watch from inside the lamp with a smile. Maybe its best you don't let her brother catch on that you're real yet. Normally you're supposed to come out and tell who finds the lamp that they have three wishes, but if they already know about that, there's no reason to be redundant. You remain in the lamp and listen to the girl. "For my first wish..."
