After Hailey and Aloe’la returned from their trip the vampire suddenly realized something,
“Hey, you’re going to need a new name if you’re going to work in the human realm…how about Aoloa? I dated a girl with that name.” Hailey suggested, “but humans usually have two names, for your last name how about..”
“Kahananui…” Aoloa replied quietly.
“Huh, why that name?” The brunette asked.
“It belonged to a soldier I knew from Vietnam…he was brave and selfless. I will honor him by taking his family name.” Aoloa replied.
Then the fairy’s human form changed, her skin tanned and her eyes became brown and monolid.
“Whoa, how’d you do that?” Hailey asked.
“Names have great meaning to many supernatural beings, fae are no different. Just like our bodies will change to match that of our soul mates, our human forms can change when we take a human name.” The now Hawaiian woman explained.
“The fae are some pretty powerful creatures.” Hailey said.
“Speaking of which, why is it that you, a vampire, are able to walk in the sunlight?” Aoloa asked.
“Oh that? That’s because I only drink animal blood, it doesn’t allow me to use any cool magic or special vampire powers but it does let me walk around in the sun.” Hailey explained.
“I see, a vampire, a werewolf, and now a fairy…Princ—Director McMillan certainly is assembling quite the motley crew.” Aoloa observed.
Hailey and Aoloa finished training for the day and the black haired woman wondered if she should tell Sarah about her new appearance. The fairy decided not to, she didn’t want anyone else to know about her…complicated relationship with the Director. But she wasn’t given a choice when she was summoned to the Director’s office anyway.
“Welcome Alo—I see you have something to report recruit?” Sarah said when she saw Aoloa’s new human appearance.
“N-nothing to worry about Ma’am, I’ve taken the name Aoloa Kahananui. It’s a fae thing, this is what I look like now.” Aoloa explained.
“Very well, Recruit. I brought you here to meet your partner. It might be a little early but with your combat experience and previous position I believe you are more than capable to handle field operations.” Sarah explained.
