Sitting at your table, you held the card menu up over your face, not bothering to see what dishes were available at this crowded establishment, you were far too busy gazing over the top of it, around the diner.
Chandeliers hung overhead, with brick pillars in rows along the long dining room, the kitchen alive with chefs and waiters bustling and rushing with people's orders, the kitchen open to see from it's wide serving window, decorated with brick and iron beams, giving the place a rustic, industrial feel, you could also see a bar, each barstool filled with men in suits, work clothes, factory overalls, even some women, long dresses, corsets, waistcoat, feathered hats and bower's, umbrellas and work cases on arm or in hand of each person,
Cautiously you reached down, patting the heavy leather case that leaned against your leg, knocking on the case lid.
Suddenly from out of the suitcase flew a cat no bigger than the palm of your hand, frantically you looked around before securing the case lid shut again, looking around in a panic before finding the small cat laying down on your sholder.
The small tabby cat wore green overalls, a collared white shirt, and a green bow tie, the cuffs of his shirt buttoned up with small golden stars, and a pocket watch hanging from a chain in a pocket on his overalls chest.
"So any sign of the anomaly?" The cat whispered in your ear, his whiskers tickling your cheek and ear as he spoke, wordlessly you shook your head
The cat let out an annoyed sigh
"Oh come on, you'd think the Arcainist of all people would be able to find someone or something that doesn't fit this time, it's like a big where's wally" the cat chuckled
"Look Cat, I'm doing the best I can ok?, I just picked up a case for work, then I was sucked into all this craziness" you complained, looking over as some customers began to give you a weird look, quickly burying your face into the menu once again
Cat lat out another annoyed groan
"It really can't be that hard, this time thread doesn't exactly let people from different ages fit in exactly" he gestured, glancing up you saw what he meant as a man in a black suit and bolar hat walked past, holding a walking cane and a beautiful woman on his arm
"I can see your point" you whispered, following the couple with your eyes as they walked to the exit, however your eyes never made it that far, instead zeroing in on a person who really didn't fit in.
