Everyone except for Katie took a piece of paper and wrote down their top three choices. Once everyone had their votes, they counted them up.
"Okay, here's the schedule for Saturday." Mary said, reading off the results. "After a brief stroll through the playground, we stop by the water park first, then catch a movie at the mall at ten, visit the amusement park at two, and after dinner at 5:45..."
"The pool party!" The children cheered.
"Then maybe a PG-13 for 9:30..." Mary added, "...we could even go for an R."
"Wait, what if it's too scary?" Katie asked.
"Well, we can always leave and go somewhere else if we're not feeling it." Mary said, reassuringly. "But I think we should give it a shot. It's part of the fun of being older, isn't it?"
They all nodded in agreement, feeling excited for the day ahead.
"How's about we make a game out of the R movie?" Katie suggested. "Whoever can last the longest without complaining or covering their eyes gets a special prize?"
"And if they bail?" Mary probed back.
"Back to six years old!" Katie leaned in closer. "And they'll slowly regress the more they cover their eyes."
"I like it." Mary nodded. "So, we should probably get going then. We've got a lot to do today!"
