Missy groaned in annoyance, trailing behind her mother as they made their way towards Caitlin Singletons law firm. The idea of her mother seeking revenge on Ann O'Toole was becoming exceptionally dull.
When Missy became the Soalr Guardian of Venus, she expected excitement. Perhaps she could use her newly acquired powers for fame or fortune. Instead, she found herself having to keep everything a secret. Annoying yes, but maybe their were adventures she would be able to go on. Afterall, it seemed like the other Guardians were always involved in one thing or another. No such luck though for Missy. While Miranda and Lilith seemed to be involved in something exciting every other day, Missy more often than she wished, found herself doing the mundane activities of every high school student. Couple that with her mother now dragging her the Caitlins law firm and Missy found herself wishing for anything else but this. "Mom why are we here?"
Melissa turned, glancing at her daughter as they approach the law firm. "Well Mr. Casseus says he needed to see me," she replied quickly, causing Melissa to roll her eyes. Dustin Casseus, Melissa's latest boyfriend. Missy hated how her mother always talked about him so formerly, when the teen knew the pair were dating. Who did her mother think she was fooling? Two days ago, Missy saw Casseus exit her mother's bedroom as she was eating breakfast. When she asked her mother, Melissa stated Casseus was just dropping off some paperwork. Missy still couldn't believe her eyes hadn't rolled out of her head when her mother told her that.
Walking towards Casseus office, Missy took a moment to study the firm. Oddly, Caitlin had been absent for almost two weeks. This struck Missy as odd, Caitlin and her mother had been friends for years now, the lawyer wasn't the kind of person to just leave without mentioning something to Melissa. When Melissa did ask Casseus where Caitlin was, the handsome silver haired man mentioned Caitlin going on vacation. Although Melissa seemed to believe that, Missy had her doubts.
"Melissa how are you," Casseus asked with a grin. Missy rolled her eyes, watching her mother giggle like a schoolgirl as the pair exchanged a peck on the cheek. Gazing at the handsome, silver haired man Missy shuddered. Something felt off looking at Casseus. Missy couldn't quite explain it, ever since acquiring the power of the Solar Guardian she would feel odd whenever Casseus was around. Missy wondered if her powers were the reason behind this yet hadn't asked. The idea of being seen talking with Miranda Desoto would have serious repercussions on her social standing.
"Ugh I'm going to take a walk mom," Missy sighed, she had no desire to watch her mother takeout with her latest boyfriend. "Okay Missy," Melissa replied, giggling as she returned to her conversation. Missy simply sighed, leaving Cassius’s office.
These trips seemed so pointless for Missy. After discovering some mystical apples that restored a person's youth, Missy’s mom became obsessed with finding out where Ann O'Toole found them. In Missy’s opinion, Casseus was only giving her mother some information. The teen couldn't explain it, but there was more to this man than just a charismatic investigator who was dating her mom. What he was hiding though, she couldn’t be sure.
As Missy now strolled through the office, she couldn’t help but ponder everything that had happened so far. Magical girls and whatever else Miranda Desoto was involved in. None of it made sense, she was supposed to be doing things typical high schoolers did. Instead, she found herself on the outskirts of some magical world she barely understood. What did the O'Tooles and their friends know? Turning the corner, Missy stopped deaf in her tracks as she gawked at something unexpected.
A four earned rabbit had hopped out of an adjoining room, stopping to stare at Missy. Missy blinked rubbing her eyes. This didn't make any sense! What was a blue four earned rabbit doing in Caitlins office? Stranger still, what was the feeling of dread washing over her as she locked eyes with said rabbit? Something was wrong, Missy noticing out of the corner of her eye the bracelet of the Soalr Guardians beginning to glow.
As quickly as her encounter with the rabbit occurred, it was over. In a puff of blue smoke the rabbit vanished, Missy blinked, she hadn't imagined that, somehow she knew that was real. Whatever that was though, Missy realized something. She was going to need some help.
