"Would you like to get a drink together?"
Mike is nervous, but he's also a horny young man who's not used to rejection. He's hoping his charm will get him somewhere with this woman. He knows she's the one in control, but it doesn't hurt to try, right?
She looks at you for a second. She must know that you're not the first guy to ever ask her out. She's probably heard much worse. "Sure," she says. "But you get to choose where."
He's surprised. He didn't actually think he'd get this far. "Um, okay," he says. "Well, there's a place right over here."
It turns out she hasn't been in this area of the country for a few decades, and she seems intrigued by the idea of a college bar. So they walk over to the nearest pub and order a couple of drinks. They don't talk much, and he's still trying to get up the courage to ask her for her name. Fortunately, she takes care of that problem. "By the way, my name's Anna Higgins. You can call me Anna."
He tells her his name, and the conversation gets going a bit more after that. Mike isn't exactly the smoothest guy around, but he's pretty sure she's at least having a good time. They talk a little bit about her life, and she even mentions a few of the powers that she's given herself along the way, like teleportation and telekinesis. He's kind of blown away. He asks if she can fly, and she says she never really felt a need to develop that power, but that she can easily grow wings on command.
Before they know it, they've gotten through a couple of drinks. It's starting to get late, and he wonders if she has anywhere to go. She must be able to read minds, because she tells him she has a place in town, but she's not sure she wants to go home yet. She might like to take a walk, though.
They walk outside into the warm summer night. Anna doesn't seem to have any trouble keeping up with him as he walks. She definitely grew to be the same height as him, and she's clearly very fit. As they walk, she asks him about his life, and he tells her about his family and school life. He's glad she didn't ask about his job at the lab, which is really just a boring internship. She laughs at some of his jokes, and seems to enjoy hearing him talk about his life. Maybe he can get somewhere with this girl.
Then, he does something he thinks is pretty smooth: he puts his arm around her shoulder. He expects her to shrug it off, but she actually seems to like it. She leans in against him, and even puts her arm around him in return.
She stopped on the corner of the street and said to Mike "Listen, I had a really nice time tonight. You're a really funny and nice guy, and I know that you were looking for more than just a friend, I wanted to tell you that I feel the same way."
Mike was surprised. "Really?" He says. "You really like me that much?"
"Of course," she said. "Why do you think I'm walking down the street with you, silly?"
"I don't know," he said. "I guess I thought you felt sorry for me, or something."
"Well, you can stop thinking that," she said. "I really like you, and I want you to kiss me."
Mike couldn't believe his ears. "Really? You want to kiss me?"
"Yes," she said. "Now come here and give me a kiss."
Mike moved in closer to Anna, and put his arms around her. He leaned in and gave her a kiss on the lips. She responded by putting her arms around him and pulling him close to her.
They kissed for what seemed like forever, but eventually they pulled apart.
"Wow," Mike said. "That was amazing."
"I know," Anna said. "I can't believe we just did that."
Mike looked at her, and saw that she was smiling. He smiled back. He couldn't believe how lucky he was.
