'What an odd store,' Kent thought to himself, the shelves were cluttered and completely disorganized, covered in ever possible type of item he could imagine. On one shelf he'd spotted what seemed to be a neatly folded wedding dress, across from it he'd seen a three foot katana, a few rows back he could have sworn he'd spotted a gold studded leash and collar. Originally the college student had simply ducked into the strange store to wait out a short storm on his walk home from campus but now he was far too interested in the strange collection to leave without something.
He was midway through perusing a collection of vintage clothes when you spotted something on the far end of the building, a shelf overflowing with books, and he knew he just had to check them out! Kent were leafing through the novels when a few loose papers fluttered to the ground out of a larger, well-worn book. Plucking them up he spotted a faded logo at the top reading 'Chronicles of Change: Character Sheet'. 'Wait,' he thought to himself, feeling his heart skip a beat with excitement as he started searching for the book they had fallen out of, 'Was this some sort of forgotten ttrpg?' Searching the shelf he eventually freed the worn hardcover the sheets had originally been stored away in, an old book with a faded cover depicting an adventuring party fighting a dragon. This was it, a genuine old school tabletop system that had been lost to time! There was NO way he was going home without it.
A short while later, Kent was home with his purchase tucked under his arm, setting himself down at the kitchen table of his small, shared dorm room to look over a character sheet. That was odd, it wasn't as complicated as he expected, the sheet seemed to assure that the game engine would handle stats and features, all he had to pick were a few simple character concepts and the game would handle the rest as he played.
Curiously, he plucked one of the faded character sheets and looked over the options.

It seemed a lot more... open ended than what he was used to, but still, there was something about that that he couldn't help but find refreshing in a way, and in any case, it was at least worth trying to fill out one of these before cracking the book open, right? Reaching for a pen he started on his character sheet, eager to see what the rest of the game had in store after he filled it out.
