(Author's Note: This is to clarify that the previous chapter was a rewrite of a chapter that came much earlier where Mika died, now instead it's Marjorie and the previous chapter is now intended as a flashback memory from Evan Harris)
Evan Harris woke up in the middle of the night. He put his hand to his head feeling confused. He didn't remember his great-grandmother being there before, wasn't it his own mother who had died? But it couldn't have been, his mother was alive and they had recently gone to Majorie's funeral, or at least that's what Evan remembered.
Evan got up from his bed and went to his parent's bedroom, afraid to knock at first, but got the courage to knock on the door. When the door, opened, he saw standing in front of him, his mother, Mika.
"Evan, sweetie? What is it? Did you have a bad dream?" Mika asked as Evan began crying and wrapped his arms around Mika's legs.
"Mommy, you're alive." Evan said his tail appeared and wagged happily.
"But...but I thought I saw you die?" Evan said through his tears.
"Oh, well....come into bed with your mom and me and we'll explain." Mika said as she turned on a nightstand lamp and shook Claudia awake.
"Huh? What....what's going on...?" Claudia yawned.
"Our son had a bad dream, where he saw me die, but now he saw....someone else die." Mika said as Claudia began to look a little sad as she now sat up and patted down the bed for Evan to sit between them.
"Evan, sweetie, what happened, did happen and didn't happen." Claudia began to explain.
"Mika, that'll confuse our son to no end. Evan, what you dreamed about? If you dreamed I died, I sort of did. But some people that had more powerful magic than your mother and I made it so I was alive again, but it came with a cost. Do you know what that cost was?" Mika asked her son.
"Great-Grandma?" Evan asked.
"Yes, see my mommy made it so she died that day instead of your mommy. I'll love her and miss her every day for it." Claudia explained.
Evan thought about it and slowly nodded beginning to understand.
"Great-Grandma, said she loved you very much." Evan said as Claudia looked to almost cry and hugged her son as did Mika.
"Why don't you sleep with us tonight?" Mika offered as he smiled. Evan felt a little better about the whole thing, although he still remembered his mother originally dying, he knew she was sleeping right next to him now safe in her arms.
