There was a flash of light. When the light cleared, the white mare and foal had become a woman and newborn human. The woman was stunningly beautiful, with a perfect body, gentle face, and long blonde hair so pale it was almost white. The infant had a full head of hair the same color. Both were naked.
Dmitri and Yevgeney immediately turned away. While Sassy was still disoriented from the shape change, Ellany put a saddle blanket around her shoulders and another draped over Roan. She waved her hand. Roan's blanket became a diaper, while Sassy's became a perfectly fitted and stylish dark blue nursing gown. She smiled.
"I have always been good at textile magic. You may look now, Dmitri and Yevgeney." The men turned back to face Sassy.
"I am still not myself," griped Sassy.
"No, this is perfect," Yevgeney said. "You would need to disguise yourself for the journey regardless. This will fit well for our group. You and Roan will pose as fellow Copperstones. Our cousins."
"Do I have to be a woman?"
"To feed Roan, yes," Ellany said. Dmitri nodded.
"And the reason you remain female is likely because you need to feed your child."
"Great. Can I at least go by something other than Sassy?"
"Given that is a horse's name, you need to," Yevgeney said dryly. "How about Jessamine? Jessamine Copperstone."
"It will suffice," sighed Sassy, now Jessamine. "Will me being human now disrupt our travel plans?"
"No. Ellany can take a horse form so Dmitri still has a steed," Yevgeney replied.
"Come with me," Ellany said, helping the new mother to her feet. "I will teach you about human womanhood." Jessamine let Ellany lead her from the stable. As they walked towards the house, something occurred to her.
"Roan has Witch's hair. Is he a Witch?" she asked.
"You have it as well," Ellany pointed out. "But I know not whether you two are now Witches. If you are, it will take some time to build up enough magic to be detected." She smiled. "We will just have to wait and see."
