Shaking, Gelvin turned Glory human just as the soothing charm wore off. The palomino transformed into Anya. With her body unclothed, it was obvious that she was pregnant. The transformation had made her pregnancy further along, but she wasn't so far along it would cause problems during their journey.
Anya stared down Gelvin. She placed a hand on her swollen stomach.
"Explain yourself," she commanded. Gelvin swallowed and launched into the whole story, as the other mares slowly came out of their own soothing charms. When he finished, Anya's face was unreadable. "I see."
"If I knew who you truly were, I never would have-" Gelvin started. Anya laughed.
"That is a lie. You already did when you knew who I was," she said. Gelvin winced. "It is even worse than you think, Gelvin. All the mares you saddled with your seed just now are truly humans."
"O- oh."
"But your punishment and payment for what you have done will wait until we reach Wind's Grove. It will be safer to travel as riders upon horses. You must take human form, then help me make some of the mares human again. I did not even realize it was possible."
Gelvin's pride stung at Anya taking over the herd so quickly, but at least she wasn't punishing him immediately. He could work with this. There were eight total members of their party, so they would turn two more mares human. Citrine was a Horse Witch truly named Ellany, and obviously turned back. As she was a Horse Witch, her pregnancy was barely affected by the transformation, and she didn't even look pregnant yet.
Gelvin waited for Anya to tell him which of her companions to turn human. Silently, he prayed that the pregnancy would be unaffected by the change. Anya made her decision.
